I am looking to get a cam for my 05 5.7 Hemi Ram 1500 QC 4x4

I have stock 3.9? gears front and back. Locker in rear. All internals are stock.
Airraid CAI & Filter, Hi FLow Magnaflow Cats, Maganaflow ****. Shorty wires, Diablosport Trinity 93 Tune.

I want the most power I can get with the stock stuff, I know to do the pushrods and springs with the cam. Only future mods planned are 4.58 gears front and rear and a better Torque Converter. I rarely tow anything if I do its a small trailer less that 2000lbs. I dont care about lope(I Like It). I want power from TC lock till about 6000 if possible. Any sugestions or Questions feel free!!!

Thanks for your help!

Any plans for a track? Comp 260 and 268 are the top list that people have alot of luck with. Inertia makes a few also and can taylor a cam to.what you want out of it.

The 268 in a QC 4x4 I don't think would be a good idea. Its not a tq cam by anymeans down low where he would need it

Great Subject/Thread! I cannot offer the same good advice as Ryan or Kenneth so Joshua you are in good hands with these Guys. Now if you had an 03 Forgottens Ram I could offer up some good mod Ideas.

Thanks to all for responding. OK i dont drive the truck to much so I dont mind making it wild. I want tho get the most out of the truck. From what I understand I can do a cam and TC and be pretty good with what I have done already. However I would like to run a 13.10 1/4mile time. So if heads are needed I could see doing that. The truck from the Trinity race thingy says my 0-60 time is 6.6 if that helps. I have not made a run at the track since I put the other parts on and lightened the truck.

Truckin151 I keep thinking about what ur saying about torque. From when I used to build motors it was for my firebirds at the track. Which was usually big roller cams, hogged out heads and no need for torque. But I think I would like to get the most torque possible I like the idea of having the ability to start spinning the tires at a 20mph roll rather than waiting for the motor to build up to the high end HP. Hope that gives some better direction.

Comp 260 or a sidewinder. They're great torque monsters for these trucks.

Thanks EJM05. What vendor? Also nice truck.

Also another question for the forum. I see a lot of ppl use the 6.1 springs and pushrods? Are they the best to use? Also any good aftermarket roller lifters or are the stock set ok?

I'm running a sidewinder variant. Supposedly it has slightly more torque than a sidewinder. Short of dynoing a sidewinder in my truck and them dynoing my cam, I dint know how to verify that. lol. I do know it has WAY more torque than stock.

I can't spin the 37s but I can spin my 35s when the weather is right (i.e. cold winter).

If you want to go bigger, id say a spartan cam or a 210x if you can find one both of those need tuning to run right though. The 260 and sidewinder don't need anything more than a canned tune. So it really all depends on how much you want to spend

imo you want to have less spin when you put in a torquey cam.

The low-end torque cams just anhilate the tires if you stand on them from a stop. My first gear is worthless if I hammer on it on the street.

Sidewinder

Thanks so much for all your help. Yea I found the thread with all the diffrent cams being run. I do not care if I have to get away from a canned tune to run a cam. Not a problem. My main thing is I don't want to have to go from cam to cam. I would like to put the most power in. If I need heads to do it right I am ok with that. I just want the most power I can sqeeze from my Hemi.

So if I don't mind having a tune written for my truck what is the most powerful cam I can put in with the stock heads. Also could I put in a converter to match the cam? Possible?
