I see lots and lots of threads for camshaft this and camshaft that and am struggling to find the answer to my issue. I've got a 2009 ram 1500 5.7l. Just hit 140k started misfiring at roughly 134k miles. I've been driving it since 130k for roughly 7 ish months. I drive 20 miles to work every day and where ever else I go. Well, I got the cylinder 1 misfire code at roughly 134k, yet only occurs at 4k+ RPM so I went through the list, tried spark plugs, injector, swapped coils with one I knew was working properly, and Surprisingly, no fix. I replaced the mds solenoid at the front of the engine, I know it controls #1 and I think #3, no solution. At this point I'm pretty set in stone that it is my camshaft, now I don't have any reason to believe I have a seized lifter. I have a slight tick but seems to be from my exhaust since I get some fumes pretty often from driving or romping on it. My oil pressure at idle warmed up roughly 25 psi and driving 45-55 psi. So it seems like the oil pump is a little worn and I want to replace it whenever I do the cam. I do not hear really any ticking that sounds internal other than my exhaust manifold and it doesn't change it always has the same real small subtle exhaust tick. But, I'm looking for a cam kit that isn't going to break the bank but isn't poor quality either. I'm not afraid to spend the extra money to get the better quality in essence make it last as long as possible. My plans were to do a cam, all lifters, timing set, oil pump, and water pump. I feel like I'm missing a thing or two but currently, this is my goal. If someone could give me some guidance that would be fantastic and I am really appreciative.
