Went to go and try and establish what gears I have but noticed this. What exactly is this and why isn't it connected?

That black thing? External Trans filter I think. Could be way wrong. I don't remember where it is exactly

It is a vent tube that is hanging down. Just rout it up high as possible and zip tie. Like to the trans dip stick tube
