my 2500 has what looks like stock mopar led lighting in the bed near the tailgate on both sides, but it doesn’t put off enough light. Has anyone installed the led strips under the bed rails and tapped into the wires from the factory led lights? And if so does it work or will it throw a code.

Search bed lighting in the search field, there's tons of information on that. I have the factory LED lights so i can't comment there.

Cheap amazon light strip cut and spliced into the factory box lighting on each side.
Been like this for half a year so far. No problems.
