So I've been to the "stealership" b/c my truck was throwing codes for bad O2 sensors....Well I had them order 2 OEM ones (I've had bad luck in the past with aftermarket ones) and put them in. Well 60miles later throwing codes again. For the one after the cat, he says that my catalytic convertor is going bad and causing this and when he told me the price I said whoa....700+ for factory one. So here's my question I'm not paying that for one I can't afford it and 2 I think it's crazy price. Could I got with a universal one like this MagnaFlow 94109 - MagnaFlow Universal Catalytic Converters - Overview - SummitRacing.com or even one of the direct bolt one's that are more expensive but not $700 expensive. Any help so I can FINALLY get this thing fixed.

Red-Truck Va had a pair of those (OEM 2003 Hemi) for 120 bucks not that long ago but haven't seen em on here lately. That might work.

If you go Magnaflow get the bigger 4" overall one and maybe a **** fitted to the rear 02 sensor will keep the codes away.

Sorry for any confusion, didn't mean inlet size was talkng about the round ones as the overall size is matched to the engine CU...anyways I looked at your Link and like Kenneth says...Good! (especially with heat shield)

Have you not tried using non-foulers? Have you checked the exhaust manifolds for leaks or cracks?

Are the 4.7s using the same size piping as the 5.7s?

That universal one he has sounds like what I'm looking for, and bigcountry I'm pretty sure not 100% that the the 4.7s and the 5.7's maybe the same size 3". But from what the guy at the exhaust shop said mine (4.7) is a 3". I'll pm you adam my email and see if you can get him to get ahold of me.

I myself have not, but I'm sure the mechanic at the dodge place would have tried it? (I would have hoped) I'm just getting tired of it coming back on and on. I've dropped well over 700+ into this 1 problem at multiple mom and pop garage's and then finally the dearlership. They have tried cleaning throttle body, I've had atleast 4-5 o2 sensors OEM and aftermarket. One guy said I think it's fuel pump, then another said there is no way. I just want the thing fixed.
The initial probelm that started it all was the truck would act like it's starving for fuel when I would first start it up and sometimes die. So when pulling out in traffic it would hesitate and you could left off the gas then step on it again and it would go and be just fine until you cut everything off and on again. ( It does this 70% of the time) When driving down the highway it runs great, the problem only happens when the motor is first started.

This has been an on going thing for a couple months, and I'm getting tired of dropping money and not getting anything out of it.

I'm not a mechanic by no means but had this happen to me on my jeep it's the cat, specially if it only happens on your first start of the day. What it is, is that your cat is almost 90% clogged and your not getting the required air flow threw your cat till the honey comb heats up and expands allowing more air to flow threw. Eventually when your cat fully clogs your truck will become a large paper weight till you change out the cat. Just my 2 cents.

Put Spark plug non-foulers, stuff with 0000 steel wool. Cost like $15 tops and could prevent you throwing codes. A dodge mechanic would not do this in a million years if at the dealership.

Just realized this thread is from over a year ago :buttkick:
