I have 14 2500 with 5.7 hemi. I've been seeing oil collecting on my air filter. The amount seems,a little excessive for blowby.

Will a catch can remedy this issue.

Other side isn't bad. It's got about 195,000 miles. Yes, that many. Just got done changing oil, cam position sensor and the oil control valve that is under the intake manifold. The two parts were from a p000b code that came up in the last couple days.

I also don't think the pcv is the problem. I've taken it out and it rattles.

The air filter hasn't been changed in almost 200K??

Catch can would certainly help either way as the air box just dumps the pcv into the location of that oily strip you're getting.

Oil on the air filter is from the breather tube. Usually you see this if you do a lot of spirited driving.

A catch can goes in the PCV system. If you have that many miles it probably would be a good idea to replace the PCV valve anyway.

Will do. Ithe would help if I could keep my wife off the throttle.

I was starting to think I might have an issue with a piston ring or two. I might do a compression test anyway to rule it out. If that's the case I might just cry and fork out money I don't want to.
