So everyone rants about the catch cans, so I figure I should probably get one. Seems like everyone here uses the Billet Catch Can around here for the most part, for what is essentially a thick coke can with some hose fittings on it its pretty damn expensive so I checked out amazon and low and behold there are all sorts of options for less than half the cost. So has anyone have any good experience with other models? Also anyone know if the V6 engine has a different hose size, Moe's listed it as for the Ram 1500 5.7L anyone know if it fits the V6?

I think the main reason besides looks for the popularity is it is the model that allows you to use the factory bolt. You can get a cheap one or even make your own. but the billet ones look like they came from the factory.

What Burla said.

Personally, I bought a $30 one off Ebay. Threw some copper chore boy in and put a pet **** valve on the bottom as a drain. It's zip tied in place. Not too pretty, but gets the job done just the same. I don't pop my hood and stare at the engine to really give a damn how it looks. Looks like it freakin works, is what I say. lol

So, you have options. :)

So essentially people are buying a $70 bracket...

Pretty much, that looks all shiny and fits nice.

Now, with the cheap-o one I bought it came with ****** tubing. I picked up some oil line at Advance and used that.

Just bought the morosso one with drain **** for my engine build on my LX Hemi Part number was 85472. Comes with hose and brackets for 5.7 and 6.1 motors. Mounts in a similar position as the BT,s using the stud bolt top left side of timing cover. Don't know how it works yet but the drain **** and short tube on the bottum will be perfect for draining out the contents collected.

Anything is better than nothing in the case of a catch can. Even a cheap-o can with some steel wool should do a good job of keeping gunk out of the engine.

Hmm they all seem to be listed for fitting the 5.7/6.1 engines, I think I'm going to end up being the test subject on the V6 engine. The UPR and moroso are just about as much as the Billet, actually the moroso is more, but it does have that fancy drain. The only ones I'm really seeing that are cheaper are those godspeed ones on amazon and honestly they look too cheap. ADD W1 has ones that look really nice for $90, amazon is shafting me pretty good on shipping though, going to continue to look but would like to get one sooner rather than later.

i got my upr for $110 shipped and it came with nickel fittings and braided hose with end covers. a similar billet tech set up would have run close to $200. most of the cheap catch cans are ugly looking, at that route, i would say to make your own catch can.

or you could wait until billet tech runs their sale and get one then.
