Some time this week im gonna start my exhaust. right now i just have a generic muffler where the cab ends, leading to a bendy straw looking tail pipe ending by the bumper of the truck. What i was thinking of, was replacing everything from the cat back with 3" piping, and dumping it just after the cab. i know its gonna be loud and i know ill be able to set off car alarms when i want to, thats not what im asking. i just want to know if this will cause any damage to my engine or not due to the loss of back pressure? or is the stock cat enough?

On my 03 Quad Cab 4.7l I run stock cats that have about 1 ft of 2.5 in. piping adapted to 3 in. that goes another 3-4 ft dumps in-front of the right rear tire, i have a 5 inch banks tip on that, No Muffler, sometimes my service light will come on throwing (small leak) and (very small leak) emission codes but no back pressure or other engine problems. Sounds real good man give it a go
