I have a been a Dodge fan since the 70’s, and have always had pretty good luck with them. This all changed when I purchased a 2011 Ram 1500, and have had nothing but headaches since I bought it, almost all of it electrical and stemming from the TPSU. I am trying to find someone who can give me the courage to buy another Ram in the future. I have been totally disappointed with the Ram I own, which is currently rotting away in the yard.

I have a 2010 1500 with 190k on the clock, a 2014 3500 with 344k on it (yes, that mileage is correct, most of it towing a travel trailer), and my son has a 2012 2500, all three have been rock solid. My wife keeps bugging me to get a new one, but both of mine are still immaculate and trouble free. My son's has been trouble free as well, but he doesn't keep it immaculate like I do- LOL

Since they are machines built by humans (mostly) there will always be issues with them, some more than others, it doesn't matter which brand you prefer.
It seems you got a lemon, too old to go back to the MFR with it, best thing to do is trade it off for a newer one.
My 2011 is a very nice truck with no issues.

I've got more Rams than I care to admit.

Been in a dodge or Ram since 1987.

I usually try to exit them around 150k, cause that works for me.

Between acquisition and 150k, very few problems. More routine maintenance than issues.

Maybe it's time to move on? I loved my 11, but I let it go, cause I needed the room. Everything from hitting a deer, to cross country trips to stuck in the snow at -35 idling for 9 hours till rescued by the national guard.

Memories are priceless but machines do break and require fixing. Like @Racer9 says It's not the brand, every machine will experience issues

The other brands have serious problems too. So no matter which one you buy is a gamble.
I also think folks complain about problems but there’s not enough of us that brag about successful trouble free trucks. Mines a 2020 and so far oil changes, one bad starter and the auto air dam. 50,000 miles. The starter and air dam I think are a result of it living in New Jersey the first 36k miles of its life with salt.
I’ve read somewhere 5% of the rams are the problem children.

What the heck is a TPSU…?

The OP doesn’t give much info on WHY he’s disappointed. Maybe the color?

My 2012 w/4.7L (which is hated by some, but served me perfectly well) went 220K miles with excellent service, even towing things longer/bigger than it should have. If it hadn’t been totaled by Mr. Alzheimer running his red-light…I’d still be driving it.

I now own two more Rams and love ‘em both. (and I used to be a dedicated F150 guy and former owner of a rusted-out-78 GMC. I just wish Ram was still called Dodge and made in Michigan and the Germans, Italians, and French went back to making their own goofy stuff elsewhere.)

This might not exactly be the answer you're looking for, but I'll give you my 2 cents anyway.

My 2014 has been average. I've had less troublesome vehicles, and more troublesome vehicles. I might consider another one for the right price, but I won't be specifically looking for one.

a 15/16 year old truck and you expect it to have zero issues? And, you purchased used? Used vehicles of any type can/may have issues. You don't know what previous owners have done to the truck.

now you want people to beg you to stay with Ram ?

Was it purchased new, and you've had issues?

Should've been right back to the dealer if nothing but problems.

Was it purchased used? When? From a dealer? Buy Here, Pay Here? Salvage Title?

What issues? When?

Been very happy with my Rams. Bought a 3rd gen 2004 Ram 1500 with the Hemi in 2007. It had 50K miles on it. It was the year that gas went up to 5 bucks a gallon and trucks weren't selling much those months. Paid just under 13K for it. I gave it away at 275K miles to a friend that needed a ride and it's still zipping around town. Had a lot of body rust which I didn't want to patch up any more and bought new 2018 Ram 1500 that now has 176K miles with no issues other than the oil filter housing leakage that I just changed yesterday. Bought it new pre-covid for just under 30K. I've been very happy with the value they've given me for the price I paid.
Lots of complaints in repair forums about Ford, GMC and now even Toyota trucks having plenty of issues.
