I just remembered my back badge is plastic dipped and look good, but my front one needs to re painted.

So I might plasti dip, then you can fill in the rest with the body color resin. That will look sweet and you know what. With it being in the middle of my grille. You won't have to worry much about it matching.

I will do whatever you want... But my recommendation would be to ditch the platidip, especially if the rear badge is all black.

If it were mine, id paint it black, clear it, then pour epoxy.

For the front, you need to disassemble it first, seal it, put it back together, then pour.

If you want me to do the front, Id prefer that you just let me paint it black and do all the disassembling and sealing... Its worse on your badge than the "RAM" trucks (looks like yours says dodge, so it's a different type of front badge). Theres a chance you could miss a spot sealing it, then I'd have to mess it up , taking it back apart.

This is what the back of your grill badge looks like (if you have "dodge" on the tailgate)

After I remove sealing (ready to ship back)

Also if/when the plasti-dip peels up one day... Then you will have a hard time making it look good again.

See I tired to paint it body color but didn't match so well. Now the paint is starting to come off.

Yeah I have no problem with you painting it black for me and then doing the resin. I have no problem with that. I know you hate plasti dip. I just used in case I wanted to change it quickly.

I actually like my rear one all black and it's held up well since it see's no wind or debris.

Since I have my grill off today, heres what the back of the grill badge looks like, so you have an idea of what's to be inspected.

Just 5 mins, use some fishing line and work it in a sawing motion behind the badge.

There are two pegs on the bottom half, once you hit those, move to a different angle until you get about 95% done. Then just gently pull forward.

Probably the easiest thing to take off the truck.

I have the 11 model. I really want the all black badges but they are only made for 13+ if I sent you some badges can you paint the whole badge black?

Yes. If you cover cost of paint.

I will also be sanding , priming, paint, clear , pour.

I'm not going to just spray it with some gloss unless you specifically say that you don't care :)

AustinB. What would your thoughts be on pouring the background on the steering wheel emblem? I love the way my tailgate emblem turned out! Have you ever thought about the steering wheel?

I thought about it. But haven't done it, its the same process.

For small areas like that, I break the popsicle stick to a sharp point, then dip that in the cup just enough for a drop.

So you just carefully drop in enough epoxy until it fills. That's what I did with the "dodge" letters in post #1.

Not sure yet. I think I am going to remove the airbag using the directions in the steering wheel controll harness DIY and level it on my work bench long enough to pour it... I have another car I can drive in the mean time.. And on my Chevy the emblem on the airbag cover was remove able from the back side so maybe this will be too. We will find out! Didn't get to it today but hopefully will tomorrow
