I had an annoying exhaust leak on the truck for the past few months and decided to fix it. My initial finding was a small hole at the top of a heat shield on the driver's side Y pipe. Then I noticed that the flange at the exhaust manifold was loose and allowing the exhaust pipe about 1/8 of travel. So I tightened the flange...and it did tighten, but then got loose again. The flange had rusted and the tightening destroyed it, lol. Too bad, because the pipe at the exhaust manifold was still in pretty good shape. Not bad for a 15 year old pipe.

Since the Y pipe and catalytic converters are one piece, it appeared that I would need to spend many $$$ top replace. But a little searching and I found that Walker's replacement was in 2 pieces. So I just ordered the driver's side piece, cut the existing Y pipe and voila...problem solved. So nice to not hear an exhaust leak.
