Check engine came on slowing down for a red light, green came on and when I accelerated the truck just sat there and literally took 15-20 seconds to go past 4 mph and this popped up. Anyone know anything? Thanks in advance. Also throws a modulator something code.

The first 4 means that is what gear you are in...4th gear. The 2nd 4 means you have it selected to only go to a max of 4th gear and no higher. It is controlled on the steering wheel on my 2019 2500 with a 6.4 by using the up and down arrows.

You're going to need to pull the CEL code but the transmission appears to be going into limp mode

Thank you, I did not know what the second 4 was for, I’ve tried everything as far as the up and down arrows, on my truck located on the shifter. Normally if I use the arrows it will just select the gear basically manual shift into gear, either high or low and won’t go past that gear. The up and down arrows on my steering wheel are for manual mode specifically, I do believe.

Pulled the code, I must not of said that and thought I did sorry, other than knowing that pulling the code and going from there which I’m not that new at, I was wondering why nobody anywhere can tell me why it goes into limp mode with these symbols? Meaning why are “we” not told that when 4 -4+ appears with check engine light, the truck goes into limp mode and must be serviced immediately, or you can just travel at low speeds till you fix. Instead the code and symbols and my owner’s manual tell me one thing, if the check engine light is flashing stop immediately and have it towed to a dealership. Well it’s not flashing, I interpreted this as it’s not very important, even though we all know it is important.

When the truck goes into limp mode it is trying to protect itself from harm. It has detected issues with shifting or whatever the problem is. Limp mode means that you only have 1st and 4th gears so when you slow down for a light the truck goes back to 1st and then will shift all the way up to 4th when you get up to speed and it's usually a clunky shift (since it's going from 1st to 4th I imagine). It shouldn't do any more harm to drive in this way but obviously get it serviced ASAP.

That is exactly what it was doing and it is currently in the shop now. I’ve been told one of the inspectors for the warranty company are headed down tomorrow to see if the part in question is covered, and gave them permission to open up the tranny to pull out the shifter solenoid because I know it is listed As a component covered and I’ll keep posting the progress or lack there of, and hopefully might help someone in a similar situation, thank you.

Not necessarily, this happened to my truck while towing and I turned around to go back home and drove an hour without issues. Granted I turned off truck and turned back on and truck reset out of limp mode but CEL was still on. Currently getting valve body replaced under warranty.
