Check your Carven 5" tips for rust

Hey guys, I noticed my chrome Carven 5" tips had rust on them and they were less then a year old. I contacted Carven and provided them documentation of my purchase date for warranty purposes as well as photos of the rust. They instantly replaced the tips and have mailed me new ones.

I asked them if it was a normal issue for their tips to rust and they told me that it wasnt. One guy told me that the chrome may not have sealed well enough and another said that they may have use the wrong materials (so who really knows). Either way they had great customer service and sent me replacements.

I just figured I would give you guys a heads up on the rust issue. Hopefully my tips were just a freak issue but it was on both tips.

The tips I have on my truck did something similar. Figured it was time to paint them black like I always wanted

Thats a problem. Hopefully they corrected this issue. Paying so much for tips to see rust within 6 months is crazy. I will put the new tips on my truck in May and well see what happens with the pair.

I have the black tips and they are also rusting pretty bad. Bought them maybe a year or so ago

Thats a problem. Hopefully they corrected this issue. Paying so much for tips to see rust within 6 months is crazy. I will put the new tips on my truck in May and well see what happens with the pair.

My truck has to much chrome for black tips lol

For me I just sanded them down and painted. Didn't make sense for me to warranty them since they were eventually going black anyway

Glad my $49. Tips are annodized black. If i paid that much for tips and they rusted I would be livid!

Hmmm interesting. Your tips seem to stick out further than mine as well. I noticed something on crease as well but it might not be rust. Did they make you send the old ones back? I’ll have to check mine. Got mine on a wicked sale during December 2017.

Also try sealing them alittle. I use Adams h20 guard as you spray it on when wet and just whipe it off. Says it’s fine for tips, I also use it on my chrome wheels.

No need to be livid, they have great customer service and replaced them instantly.

I got mine on that same sale. I didnt pay to much for them either... I may put that on the new Tips to help seal them before I put them on the road. Old tips were trashed.

The h20 gloss is a quick thing, not a permanent but it is suppose to last a good bit, up to 12wks or something.

Anodized means aluminum. I doubt your tips are aluminum.

A little late to this post, but it is Febraury here in western Nebraska and they put salt on the streets when it snows. I had a lot of rust spots on my carven chrome tips, but I used some car polish and a foam pad and it all came out. Sorry I dont have before and after photos. The initial post caused me to panic and I just went to work on the rust spots. Took me about 30 minutes, but they look new now. I bought them back in September 2021.

And to add...my rust spots were way worse than the original post alerting us to this problem
