Has anyone bought one? DIY built one and installed it? I have been looking at doing this as my next mod.

If you really want one I would say get an Airaid MIT tube and a K&N drop in filter, but don't expect to see any real gains from a CAI unless you start throwing down the dough to really modify your engine. IMO.

I just installed a S&B cai. I like it, I don't expect anything different other than the sound when you step on it.

Don't get me wrong it was my first mod too, but I wasn't aware that it doesn't help much since our engines use a MAP sensor instead of a mass air flow sensor. I went with a K&N CAI and didn't like all of the noise so I then bought a Volant bc it is a somewhat sealed design (less noise), I then fabbed up a ram air setup. But I have plenty of mods now to help get the most out it. Headers, larger true bore TB, better flowing intake manifold, cams, etc.... I just received my Edge 3000 stall converter and I sent a set of heads to killians to get p&p, milled, comp cam beehive springs installed, and back cut valves. So here pretty soon this 4.7 is going to move.

I put a K&N system in mine. Only noticeable difference is the change in engine tone. If im gaining anything i haventnoticed cause i like to hit the throttle alot more to listen to it lol. Defintely makes the 4.7 sound more aggressive i imagine the same would apply for the Hemi. Wouldnt get your hopes up and expect massive gains. Asfar as the DIY part goes i never done it before and i had my stock box pulled and the new one installed in about an hour.

Got my truck less than a week ago and this was one of the first topics I searched on. Hopefully, I'm not speaking out of turn, but I think the general consensus seemed to be as long as you get one from one of the big name producers in the game... you really can't go wrong.

They're all going to have their own set of little nuances and designs, but I think you'll see the same general benefits from all of them. At least, judging from all the threads I read a few days ago, that seemed to be the general idea that everyone tossed out there.

Stay away from the crap on eBay flown in from Hong Kong and buy from a reputable manufacturer and dealer and I think you'll be fine. :)
