You guys are something, they all look great and you've got me really tempted now. But I'll still give it some time as I even though I know it's a real cheap thing to do, I'm trying to put every penny I can into a few other things first.

Nice! I like it. Been thinking of doing the same lately because I also hate the silver but I'm thinking Flame Red is a little too bright of a color to put in the cab so I haven't done it.

Carbon Fiber Baby Thats what you need!

Primer is not really necessary since you're painting over paint. It's an interior part that just sits there looking good. Some #600 wet-sand or a Scotchbrite pad to rough up the surface a bit, wipe down clean and you're good to go.

Any of u ever used hydro dip? The videos make it look easy, but I don't know anyone who has personally done it. I'd like to do mine in black carbon fiber

My parents have a hydro dipping business and I've watched them do it quite a few times. Not sure how different the DIY kit is. But I wouldn't wanna do what they do at home.

Wasn't trying to change the topic or steal the thread. I had a 09 sport and was planning in painting the trim black to match it before it was totaled out. Now I have the cherry red and I still want to change the color inside, but don't want to go red with it. Like I said the videos make hydro dip look easy, but isnt that the case with anything. I just figured it would give a smoother more professional look than I could do with the vinyl wrap without buying a heat gun and all that good stuff. Might still get the DIY kit and experiment on something first before trying it on my truck

What all are you looking to do? We dip ram parts every week. Always see them coming in.

All the trim like the OP painted. The vent trim, around the stereo, center console, and so on. All the silver trim pretty much

Get adhesion promoter

Why? Everything you're painting over is already painted. So long as you scuff it up lightly you shouldn't need the adhesion promoter. That's usually used when painting over bare plastic. Even the center of the radio bezel area is painted flat black from the factory.

My concern with dipping is A) no way to get a uniform thickness on, and B) dipping the entire part could put paint in places where it will interfere with attachment points.

Dipping isn't dipping into paint. It's called dipping as you dip a part into a vat of liquid with a film over top and that film adheres to the part, so whatever design is on that film is on the part.

Hydro Dipping Dash in Carbon Fiber - YouTube

U can see in the video what we are talkin about with hydro dipping. Thanks for the write up on the how to and tips for getting the pieces out. I went ahead and ordered 2 different DIY dip kits. Gonna experiment a lil first. Then attempt it on the ram. I might be ordering some new dash pieces after I get started or end up painting them, but figured I'd give it a shot

I plan to do mine like this. If all works out. The Carbon fiber on the center bezel with the skulls on the silver trim

Damn, that's pretty cool. What does it cost to do something like that? Sure are some morons commenting on the video.
