My truck have a 4 inch lift kit installed. Now, I'm returning it back to stock. The cross member that sits under neath the differential been cut off to fit the new drop cross member. Since it's going back to factory, do I need to weld that bracket back in place? Does the truck need that factory cross member?

Yes it needs that crossmember. Technically you could bolt the control arms back in and probably drive the truck without it, but without that crossmember connecting the two control arms to each other the handling and overall structural strength and integrity would be compromised. I wouldn’t feel safe driving it like that.

I'm doing the same. Luckily the right side was just unbolted but the left sid ewas cut. Anybody ever get a cut-off peice after installing a lift kit? Trying a junk yard now to match up the cut off.

Go both sides from a donor truck. I’ll take some measurements then weld them up with the miller mig. I’ll sand blast and paint them prior to installing. I’ll keep everyone posted once the truck is back together. Probably tear down the truck tomorrow and then reassemble next few days. Ready to shed this weight and be back to stock height/percormance. One huge bonus is since I have 3.92s my power will restore with factory 31.5” tires. I went with a V rated tire and KYB struts and shocks. The new Moe’s performance cam will thank me for the weight shed I think.

Well everyone, I got the donor pieces sandblasted, laid out my measurements on them, cut them out, and then used the miller mig to burn them in. I’m not pro welder but it didn’t turn out to bad. These are pics after painting them. Now I wait for the IHC 3/5 drop kit to arrive. I got the kyb struts in the mail, front end is tore down and just waiting for drop kit to get here. I
