I have the gooseneck square hole in the middle of my 6'4" bed, 2009 Ram 2500 6.7 liter Cummins turbo diesel. The hole has the bar with catch release lever with hand under the bed near the back. My question: How can I take this setup, that has no upright post yet, and turn it into a fifth wheel towing setup?

Theres hitches just for that. Theres this one below and also look into B&W. Shop around for best price. Also check marketplace and C-list.

I have the Recon that pins to the gooseneck ball also. It's rated 20K and works like a charm. I paid $570.US for it from E-trailer w/free shipping. That was a few years ago so prices might have changed. It's the best 5th whl hitch I've ever owned and when parked for a while I unpin and it disassembles into 3 pieces that I can stow in the trlr's rear bay so my bed is completely unencumbered. I can't recommend it enough and people in campgrounds are constantly checking it out. Good luck, Smokey

I should add-Stay away from the gooseneck adapters. They may be a lot cheaper, but they put a lot of stress on your trailer in ways it wasn't designed for. I've seen first hand buckled fiberglass on the sides from their use.

I parrot the B&W recommendation. I ran this in my 2500 and it was a fantastic setup. Both drop right into the gooseneck mount and lock in place.

Use this if you have a long bed and don't need a slider:

Use this if you have a short bed and need more turning radius:
