It's about time I change out the coolant on the truck... still looks orange and having no issues yet but would like to change it out... I know where the drain **** is under the truck on driver side of the rad but can anyone give me a step by step on doing it.... how much coolant will I drain just by draining the rad? Do I need to take off the lower hose ... I know I probably won't get it all out but can I just drain the rad and refill or what...

this is one thing i let a mechanic do. he puts it on his machine and does a complete flush. i have hard water at home, and antifreeze is deadly to dogs and cats. prefer not to this at home.

My 2 cents

The plug is a pain to remove i couldn't figure it it out with out risking braking it (its plastic) so I just removed lower hose from radiator side. Make sure you remove the electrical connector that is right below the hose so you don't soak it. Also pull the hose down so you get some more out. I have OAT in my truck so purchased OAT concentrate from dealer. I got like 2 gallons removed from the truck with this method. I figure I'm good for another 100k miles.

This is my experience. I drained, caught the flush, and ended up with 40 gallons of coolant/flush/diluted whatever. This was for my and the neighborhood dogs that are constantly on a walk. Try getting rid of that much coolant - spendy or a lot of trips to the dump.

If you choose to do this, get some DI water to displace the tap water.
