I bought a leftover 2016 1500 Crewcab Outsdoorsman in early 2017. The build sheet says 32 gal tank but I do not think it has the correct tank in it. When it gets to 1/2 way and I fill it takes 12-13 gals not 16 gals it should and the range seems low, And when it gets low it only takes about 20 gals.

How do I verify which tank is in there?? is a visible part ##

I paid for a 32 gal tank it should have a 32 gal tank

Thanks JS in Bama

If I recall correctly, the Rams have 8% tank capacity left when it says Empty or when it says 0 miles left to empty. If you put in about 12-13 gallons when the gauge reads 1/2 and then add in the additional 2.5 gallons that FCA hid from you, it's about right for a 32 gallon tank.
Or get a 5 gallon can and put in your bed, drive until it runs out, use your 5 gallon can, and go fill up. You will have a definite answer.

I slid under the truck and found this number 22191N which goes not correspond to a Mopar # for the 32 gal tank

I did not see any numbers indicating capacity

looks like a pretty big tank

It has been posted that the 32 gallon tank has the same calibration as the 25 gallon tank. Iirc, ramcares says FCA is working on a fix.

I have a 2016 Outdoorsman 1500, window sticker says 32 gallon tank but then if you run the VIN it says 32 delete as mine is an EcoDiesel and can only have the 26 gallon tank because of the DEF tank.

To find out exactly what tank was in your Ram when it left the Warren Michigan Assembly Plant.

Go to this website

all VIN Letters must be in Capital Letters

The FILL Hole in the tank, is not exactly at the Top, they leave room for Air
..........................

do yourself a favor, do not TOP OFF the tank
Topping Off will light up your dash at some point $$$$

And now you've decided to keep it on top by posting in it too. There is nothing wrong with reviving a six old thread, especially if someone is adding useful information. When people use the search function this can and will happen.
