Yeah I know this isn't a Ram but thought maybe somebody might know something. Cousin bought a used Renegade about a year ago. Not sure what year but maybe 2016 or so. It was still under warranty when she bought it. Driving down the road one day it quit running. Dealer towed it and found it was low on oil so the sensors shut the engine down. They topped it off and a few days later same thing. Apparently no leaks cause the dealer had it for 3 weeks and put 1000 miles on it so I would think they would have found any leaks. While they had it it ran over the mileage limit on the warranty and the problem isn't fixed. Dealer says there is nothing wrong with it and now won't honor her warranty cause of the miles. Now I got all this info from my mother so it is 2nd hand. But ultimately she is underwater on it and now the dealer refuses to honor her warranty even though she initially took it in while the warranty was still valid. This is the same dealer I have had tons of issues with. In the end she raised her voice to them and they threw her out and she is not allowed back in there. Oddly, they damaged my step-sons wheel on his car and when he told them he wanted a new wheel they told him they would get him one but then they were done with him. BTW-the dealer is Napleton CJD in Ellwood City, PA.

I told my mother to have her call Chrysler Cares and see what they say and to also try a different dealer. My understanding is if the issue started and was reported while the warranty was still valid and it isn't fixed then it is still covered? Napleton said nothing is wrong with it but I guess she adds oil to it very often. She also has a key FOB issue. Sometimes it won't work at all then sometimes while driving down the road the doors start locking and unlocking.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Like you suggested, contact Chrysler Cares and see what they can do to help. If you can't get anywhere with them, it may be time to talk to a lawyer.

*My opinion only*

While it may be possible, I highly doubt that some random technician took the time to put 1000 miles on that vehicle. Even if they had it for 3 weeks, that's still 66+ miles a day. Unheard of for a flagged hour employee.

Nontheless, good luck with your situation. :)

May not have been 1000. Just what my mother said but either way when she got it back it was over the mileage cutoff for her warranty. And my old next door neighbor was a tech at a CJD dealer and often brought customer cars home and we live about 30 or so miles from his dealer.

How many miles on it?
Might still be able to buy a Mopar maxcare warranty - they say preexisting issues aren't covered but the dealer said there was no issue, so you should be fine.

i guess it is close to 70k now. not sure what was on it when she bought it or took it in for these issues. not sure she will want to spend another $2500 on this thing with all the problems she has had. she just found out they are having a baby in a few months and now she said she will be afraid to take the baby in this jeep for fear of it breaking down again. kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place here. i told my mother first thing i would do is take it to a different dealer then 2nd i would contact chrysler care. this particular dealer so far has screwed up 4 oil changes, 1 tire balancing, 1 alignment, 1 tire rotation, and 1 engine replacement. in fact i'm not sure if we have ever been in there without leaving with an issue. not exaggerating here.
