Hey fellas,
I have seen the answer to my upcoming question but can’t for the life of me find it……

Truck is a 5,000 mls 2021 hemi 5th gen.
I have very very occasionally got the HORRIBLE tick from dry lifters when starting from cold. I want to be able to crank the engine for a couple of seconds and not start it so the oil pressure builds up. I THINK I read that you can do this by flooring the throttle but I don’t know. Anyone with knowledge of this?
Brand new fully synthetic Penzoil, brand new Mopar filter, less than 1000 mls. I did dump lubeguard in as well…..

Any advice to stop this. All I can imagine is those lifters grinding for that couple seconds. It is LOUD!

Cheers, Clive.

Per Burla, a lubrication strategy, Redline 5w30w, royal purple 20-820 oil filter, with that mopar filter probably paper element and a crappy anti drain back valve, the royal purple has synthetic media and a silicone antidrain back valve give it a couple of thousand miles for the lubeGard to form platelets between the cam and roller lifters, push the throttle to the floor and crank the engine to prime the lifters.

Thank you. Will try that pedal method. Nothing to lose.
I will change out that filter see if it helps at all as well. Oil and lubeguard can stay in for now. 5w20w PUP was put in…..

Full throttle will work . I have switched to redline 5 w30 from pup and noticed a big difference in sound . It seems if I only let it run for a few minutes the next start will tick like you described, however if driven for a few miles there is no noise on restart.

That’s exactly what happens to mine. I know there are long posts on this but I couldn’t find the throttle post even tho I have seen it. Thanks very much. This is my start sequence for a while I think.
