I got the quad and it fits my needs but I do wish I had the crew just for those times when you when I go out with 3 or 4 friends or family and you have to take there vehicle because its too cramped in the quad cab and you don't really get to show off your truck as much as you like.

I have the CC with the 5'7" bed. I haul mtn bikes and on occasion trips to Home Depot, etc. I personally think the CC with the shorter bed looks good.

This is mine ..

I'll give you my$.02 worth.

I drive a 12 1500 quadrant that is a company work truck. We took it on a 2500 mile round trip with the family. Made a platform for the 60# Boxer behind the drivers seat and my 11 year old son who is 5'1" 105 lbs sat behind the passengers seat. He fit OK but over the course of the long road trip he kept adjusting himself to get comfortable with his legs. If my wife was moved most of the way forward in the pass seat he had more room but then she was not as comfortable. One thing that didn't help was that the seats didn't recline either. This is one reason I will be ordering a 2500 Mega Cab. Lots of room and recliming rear seats.

My 2014 is a crew cab with 6'4" box. Much more leg room in the back than the QC. The middle seat isn't as comfortable as the outboard ones (same as with the QC). It is a little harder to park than a QC but neither is easy to park in tight lots. The crew cab is longer than most parking spaces around here. The QC is about the length of a parking spot. I park pretty far away usually and try to find pull-through spots or end spots whenever possible.

I considered a mega cab for the three real rear seats in the back and the gobs of leg room but it is a really long truck and it would be very hard to park around here and would hang out of just about every parking spot.

I got the 2015 2500 Crew Cab w/ 6'4" bed. I had a 06 Quad cab and I really like the crew. I like the extra room in the back (so do my teenage kids). I really don't notice the difference in length of the truck when parking I just notice the towing mirrors and worry more about those then anything else.

If I were going with the 1500 I would get the crew cab.

great info from everybody here. Thank you !!

My daughter is 1 year old and we dont plan on having another one for about 2 years. The kid is rarely with me ( use the wifes CRV ).......so i'm leaning towards the quad cab. I need the 6.5 bed no matter what, so I may just save the money and use it to upgrade the wifes vehicle to a larger suv in 2-3 years. 5-6 years from now i'll be looking for a new truckk anyway and the kids will still be small.

Thats unless i can get a smokin' deal on the crew cab 6.5' bed. At $46k for the sports i am looking at, i am shooting for $10k off sticker, maybe if the $50k crew and 6.5 bed i can get 11-12k off..........

Just FYI, I went with the megacab, because my 3yr old drove me nuts kicking the seat in my CC Titan. My kids are 90-95% percentile, so maybe yours will be out of that stage before they're big enough to reach.

just for the heck of it, throwing in my two cents. I traded up from 2002 Tundra to 2014 Ram. I used to think the crewcab looked too big, but I got used to it---with the 5.3 bed. However, I just could not live without a 6.5 bed. So when they added that option to 1500, I made the move! I do believe the truck looks a tad better with the smaller bed, but as we all know, looks aren't everything right?? So I have the Hemi long bed crewcab. Love this truck! It is full blown cadillac! I saw some comments about turning radius and such, I personally don't think you're going to feel that much more easy to park and such with smaller bed, it is still a big truck. Good luck.

I have a crew with a 5'7" bed.

The crew cab is an absolute must IMO. It makes the truck so much more versatile for carrying larger people and also larger things that you wouldn't want in the bed.

Also essential IMO is a retractable cover of some kind. Whether fold up or roll up, you gotta have one. I have a tonnopro lo-roll and it's the best money I've spent on the truck.

If I could do it all over again, I'd go for a crew with the 6'4" Bed, because you gain a LOT of versatility in those 9" of bed length for not a lot of sacrifice in parking ability.

The 5'7" is nice, but with some longer items even angling them on top of the closed tailgate, or diagonal corner to corner they don't quite fit correctly. Hauling plywood or drywall or anything like that would really suck, since there would be a good 2-3 feet sticking out the end of the truck.

I'm another guys that moved from a QC 6'4" bed to the new 1500 CC 6'4"- and I couldn't be happier with the upgrade. I barely notice the length difference, mainly because it's so much easier to get close to things with the backup camera, but everyone notices the extra rear seat room. And the rear seats are much more comfortable than the short and stiff jump seats in the QC.

Figured I would chime in on this as well.
Got my truck 2 years ago and absolutely love it but one thing I wish I had was a mega instead of a quad when I got the truck since that was the only other option but even those were rare.

My girlfriend has two daughters and the oldest is almost 5' and for some reason sits behind me. I am 6'7" and chair all the way back and she is almost 5' so not much room in the back for her.

Looking at going to a 2500 Megacab with the 6.4 bed for just that much extra room and I cannot live without a 6.4 bed.

Plus, it always helps to back these monsters in to parking spots, I cannot nose in to a spot even for a 2 minutes, just feels off to me as it is impossible to back out.

Whatever you go with, show us pics!

Can't go wrong with the crew cab! I have the 6'4" with the crew cab and glad I did. No problem getting around, has a good turning radius. Don't forget about the added bonus of the in floor storage! Those are really nice to have. I even bought the locks for them.

If I were forced to choose only one option it would be the 6.4 bed for sure, I can't live w/o the larger bed, but that's just me. No more kids and their stuff to bring along anymore and I live in the country where I'm loading large stuff in the back constantly. Before I bought mine I was always bugging my buddy to use his but he has the shorter box on a crew cab and we were finding it difficult to load up a lot of the things I needed moved unless we hooked up his trailer. But since you have your kids at home, try to get both if you can. Alternatively, you could do what my buddy does and buy a crew cab with the 5' bed just buy a utility trailer.

I just got rid of a 2014 F150 5.5' bed and bought a 2014 2500 CC 6.4' bed. It is WAY better to haul stuff in the bed. The backseat has more room than my F150 too. Before that I had a quad cab F150 that was ok to fit kids in the back but no rear facing car seat.

We are about to drive from Iowa to North Carolina tomorrow and opted to take the truck instead of the minivan since we are bringing a trailer back. 2 car seats (1 rear facing) fits great in the CC.

Oh and having 2 camera's in the back is AWESOME. 1 cargo cam, 1 back up cam

Just traded in my 1994 gmc and bought my 2014 RAM outdoorsman crew cab with a 6'4" bed back in February. I love it!! It has more than enough room and power. I test drove other trucks and in my opinion the ram is the way to go. The ride is comfortable and smooth. It doesn't have the backup camera but i never had one anyway, so no big deal to me. I don't think i would like the 5'7" bed but that's just me. i would rather have too much than not enough room. You just never know. The length of the truck really didn't bother me but i don't usually try to fit in tight spots anyway. It all depends what you are using it for too. I do a lot of boating, kayaking, and camping with my wife and 2 teenage sons, so the longer bed comes in more handy.
