What has been your experience(s) with Cruise Control Switch issues, such as not responding when different settings are pressed?

Shortly after purchasing a 2018 RAM Tradesman my Cruise Control Switch would not respond when pressed. I saw on YouTube that you can slap several times the area above the Cruise Control Switch to make it start working for a while. I did this a few times (and it always worked) while I was waiting for my appointment with the RAM Service Department to have it repaired under Warranty.

This morning I took my RAM to the RAM Dealer Service Department. They said that the Cruise Control Switch was found to be defective and it was replaced. So far, it appears to be working. I don't know how they determined that it was the switch (I hope that they are not 'parts replacers' rather than Troubleshooters.) causing the problem.

What did I find shortly after I started driving? They had somehow placed multiple scratches/scuffs in the transparent plastic sheet which covers the instrument panel. I took the truck back and complained. They said that they will order a new plastic cover for the instrument panel and when it comes in they will contact me to set up and appointment for repair. They claim that it is very easy to change out the transparent plastic sheet which covers the instrument panel.

I wish that dealers/repair shops would take better car of things.

Thanks in Advance.

There have been quite a few people who have had problems with the switch. You should be fine with the replacement switch in most cases. They are also correct about the speedometer lense. It's a pretty strait forward repair. There are 4 Torx screws holding the speedometer trim piece in and then two screws to remove the actual speedometer to replace the lens. It only takes a few minutes to remove.
