I'm looking to step up to a 2500 from a ram 1500 for better stability in towing of a travel trailer. I'm looking at a 2018 2500 6.4L but the sticker doesn't give any clue of mileage? This new truck will replace a 2011 1500 DD so mileage is a bit of concern can some of you shed some light on your current mileage?

I've got 27400 on my 18 2500 4x4. It's an awesome truck I don't tow hardly but the power is there. Its way more truck than I'll ever need so I'm looking at trading it for a 2020 1500 4x4 BigHorn

I average about 16.5-17.5 normal daily driving it. In the smaller town I live in.

I have a 2018 2500 I bought new in October. Haven't towed yet, but with 3.72 gears I am getting 14.5 mpg in city driving but no towing yet. I been up to about 17 or so on highway through mountains of PA and NY. I figured I don't buy a 2500 and consider mpg so have largely ignored it. I got 16 around town in my 2003 2500 5.7 and 20 to 21 highway, towing about 16.5. Sorry to say, your probably going to be a bit unhappy if mpg is important. But I love my truck and enjoy driving it.

Not sure what stability you are looking for, if trailer does not tow well you of course could be over weight rating of towing capacity, but it could also be that you have your trailer overloaded (dry weight often does not include wright of things like awning, propane and tanks, etc.), or WDC and sway bar not adjusted properly.

Good luck!

2020 2500 here. I towed my 9000# total weight trailer and it performed beautifully.

Towed our travel trailer only 2x so far and averaged 8-10 mpg. It's definitely a puller, but the efficiency takes a hit as do most pullers.

Edit: Forgot to mention I live in the Rocky Mountains, lots of hills and steep grades involved. If you are a flatlander it should be better.

2500 6.4L Hemi 4.10's 'Off-Road'
I have a 2018 6.4 with 4.10's and in the 7000 miles I have owned it am averaging about 12.0 with most of that in town stop and go. I get about 16-17 on the highway empty. Towing our 9000lb boat I get about 9. My son has the same truck and has put about 42000 miles on it since he got it in August and towed his 9000lb camper 1500 miles to North Dakota and back and averaged about 9 MPG. Both trucks are 100% stock except he has Bridgestone KO2s factory size. No complaints at all on these trucks

I have a 2010 2500 4wd Mega Cab with the 5.7 and 6 speed auto, I bought it last summer with 177k miles, since then, with 6k miles driven, I have averaged 10.5 mpg (actual calculated). Mostly city, only a couple hundred miles towing a 5k lb trailer (got about 9 mpg on those trips). If you keep your expectations where I'm at (10.5 mpg), you probably won't be disappointed with your actual fuel economy.

Just got back from towing from Kansas city to Georgia. I got between 8-10 mpg. Speeds were 70-80 mph. I have a 2018 2500 6.4l Laramie 4x4 with 3.73.e2316300ed5d7757dad24990948f46f1.jpg

There are tons of entries about mileage. Just search for mileage and you'll find yrs & yrs of testimonies. Most seem related to MPH to me. Im super happy w/ the MPG I get. just returned from a 11,000 + mile trip from AK to AZ and back. I check every fill up manually. The highway tanks are closer to the EVIC than the city tanks, but over all I find my computations are w/ in 10-15% of the EVIC. THis was 80% highway miles and 20% in town miles. I drive around 65 MPH on good roads. These are 90% non-towing miles. After towing w/ many trucks I find towing mpg are always pretty low. ABout 10-13 mpg in my Ram 6.4. So I don't worry too much about towing mpg. They stink & always will. My non-towing driving = 90% of my driving. We tow during "snowbird" vacations from AK during the winter only. Once we drop off our TT at the park, once again, its the non towing MPG I value most. Have fun. Gas is down now, but for how log we don't know ?

I have a 2019 2500 Laramie 6.4, 4.10 gears, 33” tires, MBRP cat back exhaust and I get about 13-14 and that’s half highway/half backroads. More like 12 with winter gas.
Towing 10’ trailer with my my Polaris Ranger I’ll get about 11-12.

2012 Power Wagon 4.56 gearing rolling Milestar Patagonia 37x12.50x17’s which equates to about a 4.10 overall. I know all you “experts” will squeak up about it’s less or more etc... with the differences in tires sizes between manufactures for the same tire the gearing is close enough to 4.10 so we’ll settle at that for arguments sake. Anyway average mileage is about 12 unloaded with my Century Cap on. With my 3100 lbs Travel trailer behind it it’s about the same. Depending on wind resistance road plane etc it,lol drop to singles but under normal conditions fairly flat I can pull about 14. So far as no mpg rating, Ha, Ha, Ha welcome to the Hemi power plant Brother.

Here's a link to my Fuelly from when I had my 2016 with the 6.4 in it. It had 4.10 gears, at fill up 28 I turned the MDS off and left it off, for me the mileage gain with it on wasn't noticeable and there were other things about it I didn't like.

As far as towing stability the truck was rock solid stable, much better than the 1995 Dodge 2500 it replaced.

Here's a picture of the cluster form a camping trip, I was pulling a 27 foot travel trailer that weighed around 7K lbs and the truck had 35" all terrain tires on it.

I have a 2018 2500 4x4 with the Diesel engine. I get 18-20 hwy, often more and have pulled an 11,000 lb Shasta on 3 trips of 1000+ miles and got between 11-13 pulling the 5er.
