So after reading my manual and looking over all of my dash indicators I can't see where I have cylinder deactivation on my 2019 Limited Ram. No eco mode or V4 indicator. What is the best way to determine if my truck is equipped with that feature? I have the 5.7 hemi. Thx!

You have it standard. The option to see when the truck goes into eco-mode, green little light in dash, is in the Uconnect settings page. I believe under the Display page.

From factory the setting to show when the truck activates the MDS is off.

Thanks.....yes it looks like the engine is standard with MDS which is Ram's cylinder deactivation system.

It'll take some miles before it starts popping up I had close to 1,000 miles on my truck(I was doing 1200 straight through) before I noticed it. I have about 2100 on it now and it's popping up frequently.

Flat and level for a while drive 49mph and you will probably feel it vibrate some. Not so much when you go faster. Unless they have improved the system some.

If I didn't have my "eco" light activated I wouldn't have a clue when it is active. No vibration at all. I do have eTorque which may make it unnoticeable

I did read recently that the E Torque is supposed to dampen shifts in the transmission and probably the MDS too. You are lucky on that, the vibrating is a little annoying but i'm used to it and don't drive 50 much anyway.

John813 was correct......had to enable the indicator in the display under uconnect. Displays now and it is totally seamless in that I cannot tell by feel or performance when it engages / disengages. Still learning this truck but the more I drive the more I like!

Yea, Ram has done a good job on the transition from 8 to 4 and back. Wifes 15 R/T would shake at 50mph when it engaged/disengaged.

It's an awesome truck for sure

I can tell the difference if I'm looking for it. They did a pretty good job for the most part. Before I did my exhaust I could hardly tell at all, but now that I did a muffler swap it is much more noticeable.

Is the sound as bad with the new muffler as it is with the 4th gen? I bought a tuner with the main reason to shut off the eco mode after putting on the new muffler in my truck.

I notice it more with my 2019 than I did with my 2013. The exhaust systems are completely different.

No need to buy a tuner though, if you use the gear limiter and set it to 8 it cuts the mds off.

Maybe Ram has improved it on how it feels; on my '17, it's really annoying. I have a long 35 mph road I travel going into/out of my neighborhood where I notice it the most. I commonly hit the gear selector down one, then back up, and that kicks it out of MDS.

Compared to my 2012 Ram the MDS in my 2019 Laramie is much better and less noticeable. Does anyone notice when coning to a stop you can feel the transmission down shifting and when you come to a complete stop and it shifts into 1st gear it's an abrupt shift? Is this normal? I have 3300 miles on the truck.

My ‘18 does the same thing. I can’t figure out if it’s the transmission down shifting or the torque converter bc I can feel it clunk slightly every so often when I take off from a dead stop too. Seems to be pretty common across multiple gens.

We run our 2500 6.4 66RFE with gear setting at 6. Trans shifts up and own smoothly is responsive with no thumps.

Thanks for the replies. I also get a clunk from a dead stop sometimes. My problem is I don't understand why it doesn't do it all the time, just once in a while. I think I'll have checked out at the dealer.

Eco mode doesn’t mean the engine is in 4cyl mode. There is no visual que for that. The eco light just means you’re driving in an eco fashion.
