Local 1/8th mile drag track is hosting a fall event including street tire and daily driver classes. I'm debating running in the DD class so I went down to a test and tune last weekend.
I aired down to 25psi rear tires and got a ton of wheel hop. I heard that you should run street tires cold but the only decent launch was when I roasted the tires at the waterbox.
Since I don't really want to abuse the tires that much, should I try higher air pressure? Standard GoodYear highway tread, not traction tires.
Before I installed the TrueTrac I would get a lot of wheel spin, IIRC that was at 30psi.
Powerbrake up to about 1000rpm, let off brake and mat it on go.
I can press the go pedal more slowly but that's hard to get consistent launches.
Comments?
