Hello, I just Purchases a 2012 2500 big horn Cummins. It had an interior fire and burnt everything, the guy I bought it from rebuilt the interior but he put a slt dash in I beilive, the wipers will not go off the cluster has lights on but nothing works and there is about 20* codes having to do with missing modules and such, half the features don’t work like the engine break and 4x4, my question is what should my next steps be, is there a way to integrate the modules into the dash so I can get the codes to go away and functioning properly or do I have to find a different dash

Yes they doI’m honestly pretty lost atm with this truck, so i checked the VIN it’s an SLT, so I checked the gauge and it seems to be correct (right plugs) as far as I know it’s correct. So I talked to the guy and he didn’t replace the wiring harness or any modules after the fire‍♀️ I have many codes but also many plugs under the dash going no we’re, also the wipers not going off and lost communication codes are pointing me to BCM and TIPM issies as well as a possible fired harness. Let me know your thoughts.

for sure some of your issues/codes are TIPM related I would check the wires under it pull it out check connections take a look at the pins ect also take a look at wires going through the firewall.

Sounds like the BCM got toasted, too. Or the wire harness is gone. Too many circuit hi/lo, open/closed codes to be random.

In any vehicle fire, suspect all electrical components to be compromised, until proven otherwise.

\Looks like some serious trouble shooting needs to be done.

All good advice before here BUT I think the codes are either due to devices not being plugged in or incompatible parts being used to replace. Did he say he did anything about any other parts being replaced and/or damaged in the fire? Throwing a new BCM in without configuring it to the old can cause codes like this too. IF you are going to tackle this you should get a tool like AlfaOBD to read and configure the module settings. A short on the CANBUS can also make this happen.

Okay. Today I’m going to go through the truck check under the dash and see if maybe he forgot to plug in a few things. The part that’s confusing me is I’ve done research on on what causes fires in these trucks and it all points to elstrical, so if it started as an electrical fire how did he get away with replacing no modules and harness. It’s not adding up. The first thing I’m going to do is check the tipm as the trucks been through actions an sorting for a whole and it’s easy enough to check so I’m going to start there them probably pulled the dash pad and see what I’m really dealing with

I did some research on this truck and everything I found said the bcm and tipm are integrated together on this truck is that true?

Generally speaking, they are physically separate but highly integrated (wired together). This site will help to understand the wiring as your looing at modules and their associated connections.

We’re can I find the BCM under the dash I’m assuming? I talked to the guy again today and the modules in the truck came with the dash so maybe it’s vin locked between modules?
