My 14 sport with projectors use the main lights as DLR , but as some one said, not full bright. Got me thinking, I could go out and check the light.
I do not think that a truck sold in Canada, and one sold the US will have a different wiring harness.
So I can't see why they could not be turned on down there, maybe the dealer don't know, or can't
be bothered???????????

And as some one that has driven with them, even on bright day, they still make a difference.
Around town, with street lights, I do see people with only DTR lights on, and it is not old people as a rule.

I was able to get the reg lights on dimmer as well. Right now I’m running the turn signals as DRLs and they’re pretty bright, brighter than they are as just running lights. The video people
Keep reposting, the one I used with the guy with the mirror seems to have his hi beams on as the DRL. I just can’t get mine to work.

I just came back in, it is dark out, and I have auto head lights, when I switched to manual, the light looked yellow sitting in the garage, so maybe it is the turn lights that are the driving lights?
I was going to get out and look, but you have to have it in drive , and if you put the park brake on, the lights turn off.

You can have the truck in neutral and the drl's will be on. For truck's with factory projectors they use a dedicated drl feed, which uses the park/turn lights anyway, at a slightly reduce power. If you use alphaobd you can select dedicated for the drl's and be done. If you added oem/tyc projectors using a adapter harness you'd select parking light as drl, which I believe is set at 7.4v compared to the turn signal which is set at 12.2v.

I just read about this DRL with instructions to enable it and will be doing that today. I enabled DRL on my sport during the weekend using a different process that makes be believe they are running on the turn signal 12.2v.

I called my dealer about turning them on here in Delaware. They could do it, for $130. An hours labor charge for 10-15 minutes work. Couldn’t justify it. Through posts on here I found out about the alfaobd and for $60 turned the DLRs on, turned off my fog light drop out with high beams, and did the global windows down (not sure how much I’ll use that last one.)

Not sure what else I can do without adding actual hardware. Looking into LED license plates light and cargo camera in the future.

I don’t know the voltages, but setting the DRLs to turn signal or “dedicated” on mine with alfaobd, they are really bright. Like the brighter level of the turn signal. Same as if just the parking lights on. Those lights are less bright when the headlights come on.

Weather ended up getting bad here so didn't even get a chance to try and compare them. They are also bright like the parking lights on my end. I did the same process you did. I wonder if the different brightness or volt levels really make a big difference in the life span of the lights.

I downloaded the jscan just to see what it is. It only works on 09-12 truck's and has most of the simple changes that alphaobd can do. 17d6d17b83efd02b366235ff17813755.png54061cc60089073443b9507ddbccfe19.png75047d772a002c46c1966f3e7d96459a.png76b34b512ed277025250d086466c8657.pngc358369fe2e4edd11cf7d4d495ad626f.png26f1ca1a86d6739603b195603d651f00.png57a72862fc067f6654d116e59f2ff762.png3148e507694324f9de2f3f9fe9296fdd.png

I just checked to see if they had added any new ones and low and behold they added 2013-2017 models. Something must be different with the 2018’s since it’s not listed.
Just have to pay for my new vin license so I can start using it on my 15 ram 2500.

Interesting. Could be the same as alfaobd. They just don't have logs for a 18 to list the 18's availability

I have seen on you tube that you can open up you headlights and change the lights on the bottom row which are running and turn lights. But that's a lot of work. Then you would have to make them weather proof again.
