Being in the auto industry now for 30 years I'm very reluctant to take any of my vehicles back to dealerships for even an oil change knowing the **** that continuously happens within the confines of them walls . So recently I discovered I'd heard an exhaust leak coming up from motor compartment and beings as though Ive yet to take truck back for any of the 3 recalls I decided maybe its time to get over my fears and let them do their thing.@ of the recalls were performed the 3rd being the welds on tracbar bracket of course couldn't be even considered due to "heavy modifications" done to truck per squeelership. That was not hard to digest. What was when the attempt was made to proceed with repair to stud breaking off on exhaust manifold I was told they couldn't lift my truck up on the lifts they had in their shop due to the lift I have on my truck. I am beyond myself here. Crock of crap here..Well that's my rant for the day...

They couldn't get it in their lift? That does sound like BS. I'd say, "I'll take it to a shop that does off-road vehicles for the repair, and Chrysler can write the check."

We had lifted vehicles in the lifts at the Jeep dealership I worked at all the time.

I don't see the problem... You bought a truck from them, you modify truck and now it's their problem???

Put it back to stock and take it back in or deal with it..

Something doesn't sound right about that, did you ask for a better explanation? I could maybe see it depending on the type of lift they were putting it on, but mostly it just sounds like they are not a mod friendly dealer. Being mostly in the Jeep world I've heard of dealer issues often enough. Some dealers are cool and mod friendly, others are total ***** about the smallest of things.

The dealer we go to for nearly all of our work is one of those mod-friendly dealers. My Rubicon is pretty heavily modified throughout and I haven't been given too much trouble about things. The worst I dealt with was having to pay an extra $200 for them to repair an oil leak at the timing cover. The charge was to cover the hassle of working around the aftermarket bumper with bull bar and winch along with my air compressor overhanging the left exhaust bank.

Do I have to dumb down the rant for you or something???
It is a problem if I buy a vehicle from a dealership that cant service my truck cause they'll use the whole 'modified' vehicle as an excuse not to work on it. I'm not 100% sure theyre being honest about the situation. Warranty work don't pay well to begin with, let alone dropping a manifold and drilling out a stud from a head. I have a lift in my shop and have no issues whatsoever picking the truck up with it and I'm a small independent bodyshop, theyre a multi million dollar dealership.....

What do you have issues with guys that lift their trucks or something.. Why would you even come off at me like that???

This is whats written on my invoice..
"Has exhaust manifold leak. Cannot lift vehicle up due to suspension being altered. Our lifts cannot reach frame properly due to lift kit in trucks suspension."

If you have another dealership in the area, maybe hit them up and see if you get the same run around. Not all dealers are ass holes.

Good luck, hope you can get this sorted out.

It's a self induced problem, not a dealership problem. If they don't due it due to the lift your upset, if they do complete the work and damage it due to the modifications your upset. Insurance regs, etc could be the determining factor.

It's how they worded it that makes no sense. Unless you have a body lift the distance of the frame under your body is the same as a stock truck. If they said the truck was too tall for the lift it would be different but they are just blowing you off.

Usually its the side steps that cause issues.
