Has anyone installed the new kit yet? Does it fix the problem?

Mine should be getting here today. Just want to make sure it works before installing.

there have been some that have installed it and comment the issue is gone.

Mines on the way right now.

So I got the "replacement" kit from deezee and its the old style not the new one. I emailed them and they replied back to install it and see if it works. I emailed them back that I want to send it back and get the new redesigned one. Haven't heard anything back since then.

Just got off phone with "dave" at deezee. After giving me hell for wanting the correct kit and how the policy is to have customers deal with place of purchase I reminded him that it is a known manufacturer defect and is why they redesigned it he said he would send me the correct kit but any future issues I wont get a replacement for.

Happy they are finally giving me the right kit but I wont do future business with them. Its not my fault the part broke and its not my fault they sent the wrong one.

I've gone back and forth with Deezee and basically they told me to deal AutoAnything. I think this is the wrong way of dealing with customers. I am through with them, and do not recommend them or their products. They should stand behind their products not drive customers away. Hopefully I have a better experience with AA.

Yeah they told me to call auto anything as well even though I bought it through amazon. Definitely bad customer service

I just received mine from autoanything. How can I tell if it's the new style or old style?

Check part number. The new one ends with a 1

OK thanks. I thought they were selling two different models under the same part number.

Installed the new kit. The torx wrench included is not the right one. Be sure to have a t45 on hand. Other than that install went smooth.

Installed the new kit last night. Like jlis said, the wrench provided is not a T45, so make sure you have one on hand. Also, the procedure for installing the threaded insert was a bit off. I had to use trial and error to tighten it enough for the bottom ball mount to be installed. All in all, took about 15 minutes.

Once installed, it works great. No rubbing, no binding and it safely lowers the tailgate by itself. It's crazy to me that these are not standard equipment at this point.

I've gotta get the new kit. My wife got me the previous one for Christmas. It rubbed, but not terribly. This afternoon, the threadsert fell out of the tailgate... I'll let everyone know if DeeZee is any better now...

Installed one 3 days ago on my 2014 Ling horn. No rubbing at all. The tricky part is installing the nut insert. The instructions says turn it in more than 9 times. Which I did but the insert was not snug at all . Iturned it more like 12-14 times before it was secured. After that the rest of the installation was easy. The previous model would have the cable and the strut rub against each other.

It wasn't messing up paint, the support cable wasn't clearing the piston so it rubbed and would bind. The new 4th gen model is ok from what peeps are reporting.

I just started following this thread. I have a 2012 RCSB Express and ordered a DeeZee tailgate assist shortly after purchase. It has been wonderful. The only problem I have is when I go to drop any other tailgate, I sometimes forget and let go! It can really tic some folks off when you drop their tailgate! :emotions33:

I just rechecked my tailgate after 18 months of use and there are no problems. I relooked at my order from Amazon and I received model #43300. Did Ram change something with the tailgate or did DeeZee change something that is causing the problems mentioned in this thread? Could it be a problem since Ram went with the locking tailgate? Sorry so many are having problems. Sounds like DeeZee is tiring of the problems. They have always been a "stand-up" company in the past. Good luck to all and I hope the redesign is working out.
