Currently running 275/60R20 (stock Goodyear SR-A's, ugh). Almost down to wear bars.

I need new tires for towing and daily driving. 5300# dry, haven't weighed the TT yet.

I'm getting lost looking at load ratings, etc. I want an AT tire, and similar in weight to the Goodyears (~43lbs), and at least a 50K mile tire.

I have my eyes on:

Cooper Discoverer AT3
Bridgestone Revo 2
BF Goodrich Rugged Terrain T/A
Michelin LTX A/T 2.. Not pretty, but an impressive tire.

I also like the Nitto Terra Grapplers - Can i get 50K out of them or more? If so, put these on the list.

Would love your input guys.

Toyo Open Country ATIIs have great reviews and look good. They can come in Extreme versions with much more agggressive pattern, and best of all, they all get 50K warranty on all of them. Matter of fact, I think non Extreme versions are warranted up to 60K

I like those toyos too! I have 17" ltx at2 on my truck. Love them. No complaints. No noise, last forever, sticky in the heat less so in the cold wet. The toyos are a little softer which may give a little better cold wet traction but less overall life
After those two it would be the rugged terrain. Good all around tire, good lifespan.
The nittos would be good too but more noisy than the others
The rest i dont have any real experience with

I've owned three of the tires you listed (I've had the Toyo Open Country A/T's, Pro-Comp A/T, Baja MTZ, Terra Grappler and BFG A/T as well). I'll take my Duratracs over them any day.

I have cooper discoverer atp's from discount tire. Size is 275/60/20. So far I like them. Quiet on the road. Good thread pattern. They are similar to the at3's.

Hi Datacomguy,

I have about 4000 miles on my BFG Rugged Terrain T/A and I really like them. They are quiet and handle well. Also they dig in and grab pretty good. They are not full mudders etc and they won't act like them but they grab in snow and soft dirt and pull well.
Sorry don't have any experience with the rest so I can't really compare.
Good luck with your search,

preachp

I think with a thread like this, you're gonna find that tires are like women . . . Everybody likes something a little different from the next guy . . . Not everybody likes the ones they got . . . And no matter what you got, eventually, it's gonna cause a problem . . . LOL . . . Sorry, couldn't resist . . .

I had the terra grapplers on an expedition before, but never got to long life with them as I traded the vehicle in shortly after getting new tires. But they do last a long time and are great for damn near everything but thick mud

Thanks for all the input guys..

I'm leaning towards Toyo OC AT2 or Cooper Discoverer AT3's.. two somewhat different tires, but i think i need to stick to a LT tire.

My old titan came with rugged terrains they were horrible, flat after flat just from gravel, not very good off pavement traction, sketchy just looking at snow, after a year they were completely weather cracked looked about ten years old, i seen a set of tires today i wanna look more into, trail hog at by kananti i believe that they look like a cross of the duratracs and bfg at's

Ugh. I'm not making any progress.

Toyo OC AT2 in a LT275/65R20 is 57lbs.

Cooper Discoverer AT3 in a LT275/60R20 is 58lbs.

Bridgestone Revo 2 in a LT275/60R20 is 53lbs.

Michelin LTX A/T2 in a LT275/60R20 is 61lbs.

Holy ****. Factory tires are 43lbs. Going up 10lbs+ per tire is going to hurt, no? GRR. I have no idea what to do.

Out of those I would choose the Toyo's, no question. You won't notice 10 lbs that much to be honest.

Toyo or Coopers would be my recommendation.

I think the Michelin's are great tires, but they're ugly and crap on anything BUT paved roads (my experience)
