At the very least, cover the alternator and battery. Use a degreaser, let it soak, and spray it off gently using a garden hose should be sufficient.

I don't cover squat in an engine bay,and spray the living **** out of everything at the carwash weekly.Do you park it in a rain storm,"no",carwash isn't no different,that fan on the front of the motor sprays water everywhere in a heavy rain,carwash isn't no different.Open the hood at the carwash and let it cool down for a few minutes,then start washing,lol

Found this video on YouTube. 30 million views. I watched some of it. Kinda over my head. I don’t detail ****. Just the Costco wash every now and again. Maybe it will help you.
