Different between ram induction and the Ram air kit?

im looking to get a k&n open air filter for my Rebel and noticed Ram has these 2 options as well but besides the look, what’s the different with both or does one work with the open air kits while the other doesn’t? I can’t find much info on this online.

I thought one was going to be Vararam style and the other normal cold air intake. Neither is out yet, but I'm patiently waiting for something. All I understand about the Vararam style is that it is positioned right over the engine and pulls more air directly from the front of the vehicle instead of being routed to the side like the air box.....However it looks like they are making a kit that utilizes the hood vents on the sport hood that can also go along with the cold air intake as well.......either way they are taking way too long to get this **** ready for us to buy.

I’m looking for better performance out of the engine. This will be my starting point once everything becomes available.

The Vararam style Ram Airflow intake is the one I want because it looks cool. The extra HP/torque is expected, not appreciated. Does your sport hood actually have openings to allow air to enter/exit? The last one I saw was solid & the under hood insulation was an uninterrupted piece. If the vents are cosmetic & not functional, then that should rule out any intake with that design. The Airflow intake should produce as much or more than any aftermarket unit due to a straight shot from the start of the tract to the throttle body. It's also pulling right from the front of the truck, so it should have a very mild ram air effect.

I'll have to disagree there. While most air intakes are mainly for looks and sound, the Vararam intake for the 4th gens actually provided some solid hp gains. The Mopar intake is the same concept and should result in some solid hp improvement.

When Mopar showed off the intake, they stated that it would increase power. They didn't state any HP/torque numbers, but as mentioned, there would be benefits from the straight path the air would travel.

The sport hood does have true cutouts in the sheet metal. You would have to modify the plastic trim pieces and the heat shield.

As much as I am willing to modify the plastic vents to be functional, I would prefer a trim piece or some way to make the underside hole look nice & not like somebody took to it with a carpet knife.

I also have to disagree. I've seen dyno results in a lot of aftermarket stuff that prove gains. A solid CAI, Cat-back exhaust and tune all work very well together to greatly improve the feel of a vehicle. Will these add ons shave seconds off a 0-60 run? Most likely not much more than a few tenths. However, for me the difference is all in how the vehicle actually feels when I am driving. If I can feel these mods working when I drive around town and when I press the gas pedal then I am happy.

It's like the "Yanny and Laurel" sound clip video from a few months back (Google it if you dont know what I am talking about). Some people hear Yanny, and others hear Laurel. Some people can tell when they mod their vehicle, other people can't. To each their own.

Very true, I've already done a cat back system. I plan on getting the Mopar intake and will be buying a Pulsar. The combination of the 3 will lead to some solid gains and a much better overall feel to the truck.

It really is quite simple. I can't speak of the scoops as I have no experience. Cooler air (not a problem this time of the year other than on the other hemisphere) = denser air allows more oxygen to burn more fuel = more hp. This is more true with a highly restrictive oem intake.

An engine is simply a pump: more air in allows more fuel to be burned = more hp. At some point allowing more air in requires a release of that pressure, then you have headers. Once that is done you can add larger injectors, cam, pulley, etc., etc., etc.

I've done it a number of times and am still doing it to my ZL1. I don't see the sense in doing it to a truck...but that's because I have performance vehicles that readily accept these mods and give me a lot of hp.

Yeah you're right about the gains with all the mods but the intake by itself if there was any gains it would be very,very minimal.I'll stick by my original statement.By itself it's all show and no go.A factory air intake and filter will flow all the air that a stock motor will ever require.
