The user manual should tell you how much and of what fluid to put back in which is done through the fill plug in the cover pan.
Lsd or not doesn't matter, it is a helical style which doesn't require friction modifier.
I'm more familiar with the 10.5, 11.5, amd 11.8 axles but the 9.25 should have a metal impregnated gasket which is reusable. Most manufactures arr going that route now.

3 quarts, Royal Purple gear oil is the best, imho, and it comes with the lsd additive already. Oreilly or Advanced or AutoZ.
Yes you need a new gasket, and you'll need to clean a mess off from the old one.
The fluid fills through the cheap cap on the drain hole. I am changing to Mag-Hytec diff cover after seeing the factory one.

RP 75W90 to be more specific.
Silicone is all you need for a gasket.
Recommend you have a can of brake cleaner handy when you remove your cover and don't forget to clean all the metal shavings off the magnet.
Fill until it starts coming out of the hole.
Have a beer.

I used gasket from install kit. Install kit was missing the beer! :)
