Thanks guys, I have another question. I was looking not up the kit on the website and this note came up and I have no idea the difference between a ds and dt.

VEHICLE NOTES: For Ram 1500, fits DS only. Does not fit Ram 1500 DT.”

4th Gen 2013-2018 Ram 1500's (& 2019 Classic) are designated as a 'DS' sales code.

5th Gen 2019/2020 Ram 1500's (New body style) are designated as 'DT' sales code.

Sounds like you'll be fine but you can send a message to AllmoparParts.com and he will get to a link/confirm what you need or post the link here and one of us can confirm.

The stock clock spring turns each way 2-1/4 turns. Very LIGHTLY turn it one way until it stops or basically until you feel pressure. As long as you can feel the spring pressure the spring is still good. Turn it it back to the arrow then count 2 exact turn until the arrows are lined up and the clock spring will be centered.

Those links work fine for me. One black, one brown.
Thanks for taking a look.

The single link in the op for the steering wheel kit (black one) comes up as 404 error at AllmoparParts.com 's site. It should ideally be replaced with the 2 working links for the black and brown ones I quoted from AMP's vendor page ...

Another option that I used. When we installed a used clock spring. I went into AlfaOBD and in the SCCM SSCM? Module And you can display the status info you can see the steering wheel degree info. Then set Alfa to automatic updates every 15 seconds or so and turn the clock spring just a bit and you’ll see the steering angle change. That way you will be able to determine which way you should be rotating it. And then you just turn it until it reads around 0. As long as it is within + or - 15 degrees of zero the truck will accept it and not throw an incorrect steering position error.
It kept me from turning it the wrong way and damaging the spring.

Awesome write up guys!

Question I have is this. I bought a harness and buttons on eBay. Pulled the steering wheel off and too it apart. Well the harness that I have had a pair of wires (brow/white) going to the four white round parts. Well this new harness doesn't have that. It has the wiring to both the front controls and the two buttons and the one main white wire at the top....just not the brown and white wire. Can I "splice" or repin the new one for the proper wires?

Ok so I tore the old harness apart and found that the seller must have cut that extra wire off for whatever reason. I've spliced and soldered the old one to that new and hope it works!

Ok new issue. Cruise control stopped working as well as the gear up and down. Can I assume that it's the older harness? It looks like it came from a 2010 and I'm putting it in a 2016.

You need to get the correct harness as listed in the OP, it's only $25 dollars new (Here:
68163713AC)
. The 09-12 trucks are different than the 13-18 trucks. I'd hate to see something catastrophic happen with an airbag deployment, cruise control malfunction, etc.

Don't know, probably not. They aren't simple switches since they send out multiplexed/bussed communication messages over the LIN Bus (Local Info. Network) to the BCM. If they aren't the correct PN as listed in the OP, I wouldn't count on it working.

Crap lol well if that's the case I'll only need to replace the one switch on the right side. Rock auto sent one with the back cover!

I just bought a brand new RAM 1500 Classic (DS) 2019 and although I got the uConnect 8.4c system and several technology options, I was shocked to find that I don't have the audio controls on the steering wheel. I am mostly shocked that FCA voluntarily omit a part that may cost them $ 10 during the assembly process! It's a shame! My 19K$ base model Grand Caravan back in 2014 had the steering wheel controls from factory as base equipment...

Anyway, good to know that it's only a matter of a 45$ kit of a bezel, buttons and a small harness. However I am not equipped myself with any puller and don't really have the time to mess with that. So if I request my dealer to install the 3 parts for me, how much time do you think a professional mechanics with appropriate tools may took to perform this install?

@SimmZ
They should be able to do it in 30 mins to an hour. No programming is required.
