Yea, permanent codes can't be cleared with a scan tool. After several drive cycles without recurring, it will clear itself.
I have one of those FIXD sensors that plugs into the OBD11 port, I have a 2019 5th gen and was able to clear a code set by my pedal commander after I removed it, fairly sure it was a permanent code.

I an a chronic worrier, too. That does not help.
I have a 1991 Buick LeSabre that has OBD1, I have the scanner hooked up the port all the time so I can see what's happening, temps, sensors, its bailed me out a few times.

That's pretty clever. Nice

It turned out down the road that the higher temps I was seeing was due to the new Motorad thermostat being a POS and opening late.

I still cannot believe I did that. Exactly what happens when you rush yourself and don't pause for a bit when things don't seem to fit quite right.
Ed, by any chance are you a south paw left-handed, my left hand is for writing amongst other things, I eat with my right hand, only 9% on the population is left-handed.
