All Camera's Meter the light for Middle Gray. Why your concrete is perfect but sky is dim and truckside is darken.

Try to keep bright lights behind you.

If taking a shot including the sky, set the Sun off to one side or the other, 90 degree angle is best Like off right shoulder., yields bluest skies.

Never shot with you subject in center of frame. if moving subject, leave plenty of frame in front of direction of movement, to give illusion of speed.

Remember the Rule of Thirds.

basically draw a tic tac toe board on any image, notice how the points of Interest tend to align along the lines?

DIagonal or leading liens. Think old John FOrd landscape type of shots.
S-curves are nice too.
Frame the image subject with Tree foliage - natural frame

Nikon is offering up free photo classes right now, really handy for beginners.

I am past basic photo concepts, in case you didn't look at the site I have as my watermark. I'm more interested in how you might light a backlit truck, for instance. Would you use speedlights, or studio lights with strip boxes? things like that.

start of with 2 speed lights, into umbrella's, 45 degree angle to each.
More if needed.

If you already got a handle on Photography, go here to learn more about using Flash.

My Apologies.
I thought your question was a Beginners Question.

I had visited your Site,
and your Model mayhem page,
as well as your Facebook.

My Mistake.

all great sites for basic concepts. I guess I was hoping for real-world experience that someone has used and the results they got from it. Things like a gear list and light placement, with the final photo posted. I'll go troll the photography forums I used to use.
