Hey fellas. First time posting here but I've been here a while. In my pursuit to find and use the best of the best for a unique truck, I really came to like the Donaldson Powercore art filters. The specs on them are great and you don't see many on these trucks. I tried to the CAI they have and was pretty unhappy with the construction of the airbox so I sold it. I still wanted the powercore air filter however. Just messing around i discovered that filter part no. 61502 fits PERFECTLY over an AFE CAI intake elbow. The powercore has a 5in flange and our trucks mostly use 4in but the oversized AFE elbow mouth is a perfect fit. I'll be driving around like this for a few days and will report on performance. Also, put your soapbox back in the closet, YES I know short ram intakes suck hotter air, NO I am not worried about it. I'm just having some fun here. Remember fun? Pepperidge farm remembers.

I have been using these for the last 11 years, and am happy with the job they do .
I have added a prefilter to my last replacement , about 10,000 miles ago. I have not inspected it since then . I guess I need to give it a look .
I have mine paired with a Volant cold air box , with a modified tube to a 6.4 truck intake.
These are a high quality product and I recommend for the proper application.

So you got rid of a perfectly fine cold air box/aka the factory box and replaced it with a hot air intake. Nothing personal but you definitely took a step backwards.
With some cutting/trimming and modding you could probably get that filter inside the stock box,and then you'd have a cold air intake again

Yes, yes, short ram intakes suck hot air. Couple things, my factory box went to Jesus thanks to hitting a deer. That's when I tried the Volant system but ultimately switched for a Vararam and and AFE. The truck is a daily and I'm just having fun. I'm not worried about the very small amount of peak HP at 8k rpm I might be missing because of IATs.

You could probably mod a stock box enough to get the filter inside it,and then you'd have a pretty decent set-up.You can find the stock boxes used fairly easily and for the most part for next to nothing, then i think you'd have something worth writing about :waytogo:

I ran the volant intake on my 08' Power Wagon which came with this filter. I also tried the oiled gauze filter on the same truck and in my case the truck ran better/snappier with the oiled filter.

Just my observation.
