Down shifting problems.

Had a 2014 ram tradesman 5.7. Had trouble with down shifting to 1st gear. It would bump into 1st or bump when I hit the gas again at red lights or stop signs. Brought it in 5 times told the same thing no updates on this problem. They even replaced the transmission to no avail. Traded that truck in for another 2018 ram 1500 5.7 same exact truck. Same problems never even bothered to bring it back. My question is has anyone had this problem down shifting to 1st? Is there finally a update or anything to solve this problem?

My truck is a 2014 8hp70 trans with 321 rear. It will downshift into first at about 10mph every time. I hate that it does this. I wish it would wait until 5 at most, and even 0 if it could. Try running in tow haul and see if it changes anything. What do you mean bump into first? You sure its just not shifting into first at like 10mph (would feel like a bump due to gear ratio of first at that speed). It bumps again taking off from a stop in first?

Yes it will down shift into 1st at a complete stop. I have to release the brake or tap the gas and it will down shift to 1st

maybe yours does, but mine does not. I will not say always, but many times right when it hits 10 it is downshifting to first. Ill paymore attention other times to see what it does. Also, from what i see you have a 2004 4.7. different trans.

Just makes no sense to me why it would need to go into first at that high of a speed. Its a nice firm shift...which i dont know if it is a good thing or is potentially causing damage.

ok ...maybe im wrong.....gonna check mine again and see .....but i think its about 10mph when it down shifts..... and not saying you are wrong in any way ......i just like how it feels & knowing its in low with no hesitation if i press the pedal again....

so i watched more on way home tonight. seemed like my truck shifted to first around 3 or so. this was when warmed up. when i referenced 10mph earlier it is early in my morning commute. it was right at 10 then. so maybe it is associated with the trans temp?

How can I tell what trans I have? I have a 2014 1500 Tradesman crew cab 5.7 RWD (model ST) with 8 speed trans.
