So I couldn’t find the specific thread or threads so sorry for another one.

Here goes:

I took my truck to the dealer to have them activate my DRLs and they told me my truck does not have the option to do so. But I’m thinking they just didn’t know what to do because when I asked my service advisor about this his first question to me was “what’s drl?” So is he right I kind find it hard to believe especially since my truck is a 2017 Longhorn and come with almost all bells and whistles.

Another question is I’ve read in the past about buy certain programmers to do this yourself. Which ones are these? Thanks in advance

I literally just had this done at the dealer yesterday on my 2017. Wanted them turned on for when my morimoto XB headlights come in. Have a buddy that’s a mopar tech and he did some research and found the code to activate them. They didn’t charge me a dime for it since they were already updating the computer for the recall.
OBD Genie has a little programmer you can buy to turn them on but it’s 200 bucks.

I just activated my DRL myself using the alfaOBD software. For my truck, which came with the factory projectors, I can have my fog lights, low beams, or my turn signals be my DRL.

I chose my turn signals as the DRL. No trip to the dealer. My DRL come on when the truck is in Reverse, Neutral, or drive. They cut off if the emergency brake is applied or the truck is in park.

The software is $49.99 and the OBD thing I bought was $79.99. It allows me to do much more than activate the DRL though.

Pics or it isn't real right?

2014.

I dealt with MANY dealers in my area, in the past, and I couldn't get them to activate my DRL on 2013-2014 trucks I had at the time.

The software I've got works on 2013-2017 trucks for sure. 2018 trucks require a by pass setup.

Thread where I learned all this is here. https://www.ramforum.com/threads/alfaobd.123982/

A damn. I was hoping it was a 15+ and found a way to get the on off toggle. Newer trucks don’t have that when you turn the DRLs on

Yeah I am pretty sure I saw a 2015+ truck with the same menu option as me.

Well that stinks. At least with this software you can change the DRL or turn them back off all without a trip to the dealer.

Seems to be a Northern thing honestly.

4 dealers near Havelock, Newbern, and Morehead City North Carolina couldn't figure it out. Now I'm in Florida and it's the same story. Either way though I can do it now without a trip to the dealer.

So going back to that other thread there is 2 ways to do it. One of those links take me to another item on amazon that’s says it’s for windows and android kinda thing. What’s the difference between that one and the one you have?

The scan tool is the one recommended because it is known to work. That's what you are seeing on Amazon. You buy the software on your android phone through the play store and then link the scan tool to your phone via bluetooth and off you go.

So... AlfaOBD software: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.AlfaOBD.AlfaOBD

Then the scan tool on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/ScanTool-426...rofessional/dp/B006NZTZLQ?tag=viglink21284-20.

I used both of those and there you go.

Out of luck unfortunately. If you have a windows computer that'll work too but it's gotta have bluetooth far as I know.

Do you mean the check on/off in Settings/Lights list, or an actual soft toggle in the app screen like you get with say the Auto Dim Mirror? I activated DRL's on my 2016 with AlfaOBD and do have the on/off checkbox under Lights fwiw...
