DRL's turned on w/ unlock

Does anyone know if it's possible to have a "DRL" signal turn on with the unlock command. Let me explain:

I picked up the AlphaRex Black Nova quad jewel headlight assemblies, with sequential turn signals/DRLs.

They have a built in DRL. My truck came with factory projectors, but 2014's don't have a stock DRL feature. So, OEM headlights, no DRL. AlphaRex headlights fake the DRL, by tapping into the fuse box, to a fuse that energizes when the truck is running.

What I would like to accomplish, is to have the "fake" DRL activate when the unlock command is received. Reason being, is because these headlights have an "animated" DRL "dance" that they do, and it looks cool. lol. BUT, I never get to see it, because I'm in the truck starting it up. It would be a great party trick, to press unlock, and have the DRL's activate, and do their little dance, while I'm still out of the truck.

I am wondering if there is a way through AlfaOBD (which I don't have, and have never used) that this could be accomplished. Any thoughts?

Alpha allows you to set drl to high or low beam, fogs, signals or to a dedicated drl.
That's your choices.

To use the dedicated line in the truck you would have to wire that in for starters. I did on my 16 because I wanted to run my switchback blinker/park lights as DRL's. Then I had to enable the function with Alfa.

With that said I don't recall any setting that will allow the dedicated line to turn on with unlock? Not only that but the lights that do come on (park and cab lights in my case) with unlock are only momentary. My low beams do come on as well but don't think you would want to tie in to that circuit as it comes on with the "headlights on approach" setting in the radio (I think that's what it is called?) and also only come on when your headlights came on.

You should have the dedicated DRL wires in the projector harness, you would need to wire the headlight DRLs to the dedicated wiring on each headlight plug. Use AlfaOBD to activate the Dedicated DRL. The dedicated DRLs turn on with remote start(they do on my '15 truck). That's probably the closest you can get for them to turn on remotely.

I believe 13+ with factory equipped projectors have the dedicated feed. Just not activated for drl's. Problem is, unless alpharex added the dedicated drl feed recently in their adapters you'd have to add it or tap into it in the truck's harness and wire it directly to the drl wire on the headlights

What you are wanting to do is not possible with AlfaOBD or the dedicated DRL circuits. The “light dance” happens when power is initially supplied to either the headlight’s DRL wire or the parking light wire. When you have “headlight illumination on approach” turned on in your radio settings, ONLY the low beam lights illuminate when you press unlock on the fob, and there’s no way to change that. The closest you can get to doing what you want is to remote start the truck. When you remote start, the turn signals will flash once, then the parking lights will illuminate, initiating the “light dance”.
