Looking at getting a drop in replacement filter for my '03 5.9 1500. Same filter as the 4.7 and Hemi use. So far I have found the K&N and spectre. They look the same, both oiled filters with the spectre being ~$15 cheaper. Any other options or opinions. I have run K&Ns in my Jeeps and Mustang for 20 years.

I have the dry spectre , from Advance Auto parts, I like it , I think it has the better seal which is one other the things I look for in a quality filter .

I stay away from oiled filters. Dryflow is a better option

The only spectre one I can find is oiled like a K&N. Do you have the part #?

In my 4th gen I have AEM dry filter. Not sure if it would fit in 3rd or if it would be different one.

Works great been using is for a few years and is dry no oil needed. Just clean with AEM spray, wash, let dry and then put it back in.

Great fit with a realy good seal .

Crazy thing is , I've put in two of these (about every 10k) I've never noticed any literature on it being oiled . It doesn't feel or look oiled , just looks like dry red filter media . I've ran oiled filters in the past on atvs , motorcycles and vehicles . We use oiled filters at work as well , I never would've known thisone was oiled if you hadn't said so . I Googled the p/n and one of the discriptions said " Preoiled @Factory " that's the only place I've seen any reference to it being oiled ... Thank you sir for pointing that out .
