i have a 14 1500 with a 6 inch lift and 35s. I am trying to figure out what size drop shank I need for my weight distribution hitch. Ball height needs to be around 17.5 inches.

I'm going to take a guess your probably going to need about 12" drop.Trailer-Hitches-height.jpg

You'd be wise to search you tube and watch some videos on it so you can measure and know what your buying. Lots of good videos out there.

At least 10”, probably 12” as stated by @crash86.

I have a 10” drop with my 4” lift and on my 5x10 utility trailer it still sits a smidge nose high at full drop.

Just for reference, both pics are with some kind of weight and the hitch on the lowest setting.

Trailer leveling is not as critical on a single axle trailer as it is on a dual (or more) axle trailer. The reasoning for leveling a trailer is even weight distribution on the trailer's axels.

Great point and an absolutely true statement. It’s also the reason I don’t feel I need a bigger drop for that trailer (which is primarily what I tow).

Pic is just visual reference showing a 10” drop with 4” lift.

Another thing to note, the height of the coupler will vary drastically depending on the trailer. The type of coupler and how it’s attached on the a frame as well as tire size all affects the height of the coupler........never go wrong with measuring for what you need!
