Is anyone else having a really strange behavior with their Dual Zone climate controls? I retrofitted a 12" UAX system into my tradesman which has a single zone blower, but I was experiencing very strange behavior. When it was cool out, say below 65*, I would set the temperature to 70, and from start up I would get decent luke warm air out of the defroster & foot vents, but eventually it would start getting too hot, so i'd turn the temperature down 68*. The blower would adjust to the dash vents as it should, but instead of giving me cooler air, it would give me hotter air, so i'd turn the temperature down to 66*, and it would give me maximum heat until i finally forced the system to LO.

I thought this might be happening because i retrofitted a UAX radio into my tradesman that came stock with manual controls. However, several guys on the HDrams forum with FACTORY dual zone climate control are experiencing the same problems with their DRIVER SIDE zone. No matter what they do the driver side zone is always out of whack blowing much warmer air than the passenger side.

So one Saturday a few weeks ago I saw AlfaOBD added support for the 2019+ Climate control modules. I decided to do some logs and found a small, but potentially major glitch in the climate control module data.

When i went logging data in the truck i discovered that the DRIVER SIDE climate set point was missing, it just wasn't there. The passenger side setting showed up just fine, but the driver side was BLANK.

The other problem, is the data value that's supposed to show the CABIN temperature, from the cabin temperature sensor, was showing the DRIVER SIDE Temperature setting.

So basically, instead of the truck seeing what the actual cabin temperature is, it's thinking whatever you set the driver side temperature to is the current in cabin temperature, which would make sense based on the behavior I'm seeing.

So it's seeing an outside temperature below 65 degrees, and I have the truck set to 70 inside temperature, so the truck blows luke warm air, because the truck thinks it's 70* in the cab, and I assume since it's not seeing a setting for the driver side temperature it's defaulting to something like 72*. So after a while the temperature in the cab creeps up, so i turn the temperature setting DOWN to 68*, now the truck thinks the temperature in the cab just dropped 2*, gotta throw more heat to get the temp up, and the further i push the temperature setting down the hotter and stronger it blows air at me thinking it's getting colder in the cab, not that I want it colder in the cab. Until eventually i hit the LO setting it and overrides whatever logic it's trying to use.

Here's some pictures of logs to show what's going on. And recently 2 other members on the HDrams forum have done the same logs on their FACTORY dual zone climate control trucks and found the same issues with their data.

Truck Interior Temperature set to SYNC on 72*F or 21*C (AlfaOBD only does Celcius):

If anyone else is experiencing issues with their dual zone climate control and can check their logs to confirm they're having the same issue, please post here. Hopefully somebody at RAM will take notice and correct this software issue.
