Dumb question about 5.0

Does the 5.0 have the cell data connection that uConnect uses like the 8.4 & 8.4AN do, or is it restricted to the big daddy only?

Just wanna know yes/no whether the 5.0 has the connection. (Don't worry about why or what my next step in the thought process is, just does it have that?)

Actually, I'm talking about the interface it uses to phone home to Chrysler, so you can see your service stats online. The uConnect service itself, not anything you do while in the truck.

You know, the open cell data connection that was hacked on the Jeep by the college students.

Only the RA3 and the RA4 have the embedded sierra wireless card in them the RA1 and RA2 radios do not. If your truck did not come with the RA4 or RA4 and you upgrade to them you can have a fully functioning sierra card, there is no account for the card itself and it uses the sprint network.

When I have upgraded from the RA1 to the RA4 I and added the correct shark-fin antenna, which is a combination XM SDAR and Cellular antenna. I have the following:
1. access to call 911 (I have actually called)
2. Ram customer Care (I have actually called)
3. Ram Roadside assistance (I have actually called)
4. Ram vehicle report (not sure what this does since I do not have uconnect but I can call it)
5. Yelp

In addition I also have Pandora and Slacker but do not have I-heart or AHA (not sure why).

I cannot access the uconnect store, or obtain a uconnect registration. I spoke to them about it and they told me yes they do receive the signal from my radio but since my vin is only associated with a RA1 radio, so their server rejects the request. They also told me that Fiat will not let them change my account, well that is their loss and one less thing that I pay for.

I should note that when upgrading these results vary from truck to truck and radio to radio. The radio I have now is a 2015, previously I had a 2014 and could not use the assist, customer care, vehicle report, Pandora or slacker.

You maynthink I'm paranoid, and that's okay. It's also less **** -- or in this case, less complex **** -- to break. Either way, it means the 5.0 works for me.

I agree at least for now !
I upgraded to the RA2 5.0, a few months back with the audio controls on the wheel and the VR/Phone button and the I installed the OEM Backup Camera system.
I have to say I'm pretty happy with my current set up .

I have everything I need to do the RA4 8.4 AN Upgrade /( less the radio) , I'm sure I will eventually once all the SW & NAV Issues are ironed out and a known good working year model 8.4 or a good combination of year model firmware and nav update has been determined.

Turns out I was able to get a truck with the 3.0 after all...by ordering it.
