Hey guys I've always used eBay HID kits in my previous vehicles and never had any problems, so i would like to use them in my ram as well. Ive read on here that you need capacitors?relay? and what about this Canbus system i hear about?

Anyone use ebay kits before? Link to what i need/what you used?

Thanks :)

Which style lamps do you have,
Dual, Quad or Bi-Halogen Projectors?

Keep in mind that simply plugging an HID bulb into a stock reflector housing
that was designed for a halogen bulb is not the proper way to increase output...

This demo is not a Ram, but same principle applies
...the light scatters when there's no clear cut off.

********* HID (not my term, saw it posted on an HID forum lol) vs Professional HID

The example on the left is what gives HID users a bad rap, because HID done wrong blinds on-coming traffic

Projectors Lamps have a metal shield inside to block the light above the cut-off keeping it out of drivers eye level.

In Low mode your light stays on the road where it should be.
When you hit your high beam, the shield is removed filling the entire lens.

Excellent! that's actually a pic from the RetroShop,

You can do a drop-in kit to your projectors for $155
includes Morimoto Bulbs/Ballasts/CanBus adapters.

no wiring harness required, no relays resistors capacitors
...hard to believe but these babies replace all that

I got mine from Jeremy at the RetroShop, board sponsor here http://www.ramforum.com/f96/
The entire Morimoto system comes with a 3 year warranty.

Jeremy's website: http://shop.retroshop.us/

Most here are stuffing the CanBus Adapter and Ballast right inside the lamp housings
makes for a nice clean install without wires everywhere (need to Tetris them into place)

another recent install with Fogs too: http://www.ramforum.com/f41/retroshop_hid_headlights_foglights_install_photos-56216/

so with the can bus system I don't need relays or capacitors or anything like that?

Nope! Crazy Huh?

I've been putting off the HID upgrade for 4 years due to massive octopus
of a wire harness required to make them work.

CanBus system is the most up to date solution for an easy install
and trouble free operation on modern vehicles with sensitive electronics.
and no, they don't even get hot like the resistors, just slightly warm so they are safe to tuck inside the housings.

Sorry, the only guy I trust with my money,
even if its $100 more, is Jeremy

no questions asked, 3 year warranty
and he's been around here for a LONG time
with an awesome rep for customer service from fellow Ram owners

so the owners manual says the bulb is "HIR2" which is a 9012 correct? or is it 9006?

it is in fact a 9012 bulb,
and that's what Retro shop now ships with the drop-in kits
His website may be out of date because there were no HID 9012 bulbs at first
and 9006 bulbs had to have one tab trimmed to fit into the stock housings.
