If you go that far just buy HP tuners at that point. You dont need to be a tuner to set the fans, temps and idle.
Sounds like he's using HP if he does that. Its only 250 $ to Unluck an ECU straight from HP. Heck some places only charge 100$ now for that service now.
600$ is steep just to set a few setting that take 10 minutes...lol... Thats the price a full tune.
That was a most likely a complete tune price. It was just mentioned, we didn't go into a lot of detail. What I want may be less than that. He does seem to be well versed with the Pentastar engine, which is very important to me.
There are a few other things I want changed up also.
Anyway, I will go into more detail with him in a few weeks and get a firm price. I don't want to send my parts off in the mail to someone in another state, hoping they arrive back home safe, if at all. I don't care to buy the software and bypass cables needed for a one time use.
Years ago, I would tackle this myself with no second thoughts. Today, I hurt 24 hours a day, can barely get around some days, have a hard time getting up when I have to lay on the ground, don't sleep, which means I can't think well some days, ect....
My wife's car is the easiest thing to change oil on. I did it last week and it wore me completely out.
I'm old, arthritic, have muscle pain, don't sleep, and have a damaged heart from a heart attack.
Spending an extra 200-300 dollars to keep from hurting myself and possibly messing my PCM up is well worth it to me at this point.
A few years ago my thought process was completely different, but circumstances change in life....
