recently my 2015 2500 big horn with only 45,000 miles started having gremlin related activities. my 'one touch' up power window function stopped working on my driver's side, the honk with pressing lock on the remote twice keeps turning itself off, and steering wheel cruise buttons only work intermittently. replaced the battery a few months back so I know it's not that. since I haven't been driving the truck much this past year, I have had it on a float/trickle charger.

Would keeping it plugged in possibly cause these issues?

There are trickle chargers designed to be left on for long periods of time and there are some that dont recommend it. check your chargers user manual.

I'm not aware of any issues stemming from charging the battery. At worst, you can over charge a battery if your chargers built in regulator goes out but any systems using voltage while truck is off would be guarded against over voltage scenarios via fuses/control module.

I'm thinking your issues are unrelated.

The auto up feature is controlled directly from the door switch. A secondary lever in the window button, once pulled all the way up, activates a separate circuit on the switch PCB. The secondary switch (some plastic bits) could be broken or the PCB could have corrosion or some other type of damage. Im on my 3rd D/S door switch, the last one only lasted a month. Turns out I cooked my last one because I always had that left heater vent pointed downward. Figured that out when my current one got so hot i burnt my fingers and that prompt me to open my old one and found globs of solder in areas it shouldnt be.

Currently, my cruise control is also intermittent. Sometimes it dosent even deactivate when pressing cancel. I was planning on a visual inspection soon and got the details from alldatadiy. Air bag needs removed, a couple screw from the steering shroud and some plastic bits removed, then the button assy is removed. I'm betting it's just crap from my fingers contaminating the circuit, or the several tons of make up my wife applies while driving.

As for your "honk on door lock" constantly being reset, I dont have an answer. Good luck

For your window, run the window all the way up and down a few times to reset the one touch. The charger, like nick said, make sure you read the manual on that. You should be using a tender, not a trickle charger.

thanks for the replies. will tried the full up and down a few times already. next step will be unhook the battery and reset everything. just didn't want to do that as it resets everything....

the charger is a floating/maintanence type so no issues with over charge, etc. I probably shouldn't have put 'trickle' in my original post, I think that refers to the old fashion type with no regulator. I'm using a Battery Tender brand on all of my motorcycles, tractor as well as my truck. Have stuck with that name brand for years now, no problem. I didn't think that would be the cause but never know, so I had to ask.

I now have a Honda, but had an HD Ultra Classic. HD makes a decent 12V battery tender, waterproof, that I use for motorcycle, when sitting for a while. I just put as pig tail on the MC battery,, and plug in as needed. Tender also has adapter with alligator clips. . Also works well on my lawn mower battery and my trailer breakaway battery. I have a big *** Craftsman triple charger/tender for truck. But since I have a MY 19, DAT BATTERY best not need ne thing, LOL//
