I have a 2023 Ram 2500 Tradesman 6.4 Hemi. I’ve seen things that the block heater element is already installed, but the cord isn’t plugged in. Is this true and where in the world can I locate the block heater element?

From AI: Yes, 6.4L Hemi engines in Ram trucks often come with a factory-installed block heater, though the power cord might be a separate purchase or option, typically located behind the oil filter on the passenger side of the block, with its cord sometimes tucked away near the airbox or under the cowl. You'll need to check your specific vehicle's build sheet, but many modern Rams have the heating element installed, requiring just the cord.

Gotta say.... I had no idea my Hemi had this. I thought block heaters were only on diesels.

I’ve looked everywhere where the google AI said, can’t find it. I’ve tried googling YouTube videos, nothing. If you can enlighten me with some pictures that would be helpful. Thank you

It’s above the starter. You have to remove a heat shield to see up there.

My 2020 6.4 doesn’t have the heater installed I just checked last time I changed oil (this month).

My truck has the Snow Chief package but no block heater go figure.

Sorry no pictures of the empty hole.

The only ones I have heard of having it without selecting it as an option at purchase are diesels.

Check your window sticker or build sheet for the block heater:

If you have one, I found my cord zip tied behind the grill somewhere - I forget exactly where they tied it. One must crawl under the truck and look up to find it

If your truck doesn't have a block heater installed that just needs the cord, have you considered an oil pan heater instead.Block heaters don't do much to keep the oil warm. Plus they're easier to install and cheaper to run then a block heater.
