I had my electronic throttle control warning light start flashing at me this morning on my way to work. I was on an exit ramp backed up in traffic and it just went off. I was able to drive the truck to the office but it was sluggish and acted like it was going to stall.

I called dealer and had it towed in (just to be on the safe side). They fixed the issue (hopefully) as well as performed the cruise control recall. The paperwork said my aftermarket speaker amp was pulling too much juice from my battery. Not sure how this could affect the ETC. They cleared the error code, took if for a test drive and said it was good.

Now, I have a pedal commander as well. Could this have triggered the ETC code? I've had it plugged in for about a month now with no issues. I unhooked it before it went to the dealer so they wouldn't see it and say that it caused my problem.

Has anyone had this issue running a pedal commander or having an external power amp (running speakers and sub off battery) cause any problems?

I'm a bit nervous to hook my pedal commander back up. I already miss having it plugged in. Stock pedal response is terrible.

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Do you have the Bluetooth Pedal Commander? The first batch of those had a flaw in he programming that would cause this to happen, but you can update it for free using the Pedal Commander app. It fixes this issue.

Yes, I have the Bluetooth version, but haven't had it very long. I've not even downloaded the app. I'll try that just to make sure. Thanks for the heads up.

Give that a try. You may have received 1 that came from that first batch of Bluetooth units that does need an update.
